Fully qualified international chef can make up to 160,000 baht/mth

Thai chef in 5 star hotel around 45,000 - 65,000 baht/mth

Thank you, you would say that 160000 is a maximum that few of them can get ?

Or all fully qualified international chef make it at least ?

A friend of mine just left a job at a top hotel here, he's in his 30's (chef with one Michelin Star).

His salary was more than 160,000 a month.   He left because he was offered a better deal by another hotel.

160,000 isn't really that great a salary.  It's OK, but as a top chef you should expect more.

So they really get a lot, I guess that they couldn't expect as much in their home country ?

Depends where their home country is.

You pay employees based on cost of living, and how much money they can generate for you.

A top chef can earn you millions, so you should pay them accordingly.

I watched these top chefs prepare a plate (On television) yea gad a couple slices of fish and some parsley and a dollup of gravy or sauce and the price is out of this world. Now me hmm a big cheeseburger double cheese and fries hits the spot.

if you dine in a Michelin "starred" restaurant you crave for prikh nam pla to add a bit of character to extremely bland food and when you are finished you leave not only much poorer but also hungry.

Exactly! I had no idea a chef in Bangkok can make this kind of money. So they make a lot more than they do in Scandinavia for example..hmm I guess Bangkok should be a paradise for chefs then?

Why work harder ? Other people working in the kitchen get 10000/month, so you can have many many slaves :-)
