Chinese tour guide boss has gold necklace stolen in Pattaya

PATTAYA: -- A leading Chinese tour guide figure had his gold necklace snatched by a motorcyclist while he was on a motorcycle taxi on a Pattaya road early on Monday.

 

Tao Yingjie, 34, the head of a Chinese tour guide group, told police his necklace was snatched at about 2am while he was on Phet Trakul Road in tambon Nong Prua in Chon Buri’s Bang Lamung district.

 

He said the thief had a pillion rider.

 

Tao said his necklace was worth Bt100,000.

 

Tai Donsaeng, 44, the taxi motorcyclist ferring Tao, told police he was taking Tao to his hotel when the theft occurred.

 

Tai said he tried to follow the thief but could not keep up.

 

Police said they would check CCTV feeds in the area to try and identify the thief.

 

There has been a spate of similar necklace-snatching thefts on Pattaya roads recently.
