csabo
Can anyone identify this machine? Ultimately trying to determine gas/oil mix ratio. Not my machine, no desire to damage it. Owner unavailable but said I can use it previously.
KhunBENQ
And this is the only "label"? "ISKY" ? "041??"? Some Chinese no-name. A hard nut to crack. Either you take it to a local specialist shop to ask or if uncertain use 1:25. Less damaging than 1:50 for a 1:25 motor?
KhunBENQ
There is no best/ideal forum for this thread. Other threads on the trimmers spread over the forums. But I think the DIY housing forum is a better location. Moved.
cornishcarlos
I use 50:1 in my Husqvarna but don't know what model you have there ? You won't do any damage with a 40:1 mix, just check the spark plug after 30mins and see whether its oiled up or clean....
Crossy
If unknown I would use 25-30:1, might be a bit smoky but it's not going to damage anything.
VocalNeal
^ Ah. Two strokes a subject close to my heart. Forget all the four strokes everywhere:-) The type or quality of oil is as important as the mix. If the engine is water cooled or very modern and uses synthetic oil the ratio should be 50:1. However for air cooled motors the usual ratio is 40:1 For racing it is a lot lower. Old Lambrettas/Vespas used mineral oil at 25:1 As It is not your trimmer and the owner didn't tell you go to a Shell garage if there is one near and buy some Shell Advance (semi-synthetic) in the black can and run it at 30:1. Can't find Shell then use Castrol semi-synthetic. If it smokes a lot reduce to 40:1 etc. Don't bother looking locally in Thailand for fully synthetic two-stroke oil it is "unobtanium". If local village shop only has mineral oil mix at 25:1. SURGEON GENERAL: It is OK the smoke the opposition, with two-stroke power. VocalNeal
Look on the bottle. If it doesn't say semi-synthetic then safer at 25:1 Have a very close look at the gas cap. Sometimes the ratio is cast into the cap. Example: Edited May 5, 2017 by VocalNeal
dinga
Looks exactly like mine ('cept mine's a line cutter) - which is a Chinese brand I bought from ThaiWasadu. I use 25:
