Hi,

 

My name is Prasanthan and I'm a South African citizen.

 

Long story short, I have a flight booked from Chiang Mai (where I currently am now) to Bali on the 4th of August, yet my tourist visa ends on the 19th of July.

 

Is it worth/possible for me to extend my visa by 2 weeks so I don't have to spend more money changing the flight?

You can apply for a 30 day extension of the 60 day tourist visa entry you have now at an immigration office for fee of 1900 baht.

We have May 5th today.

July 19th would be 75 days from today.

This is more than a tourist visa would allow (60 days).

 

When you arrived (when?) you got an entry stamp ("ADMITTED UNTIL").

Does it really say July 19th? (19 JUL 2017)?

(or do you mix it up with a date shown on the visa sticker?)

Well spotted, m8! Could be an METV, though.... Let´s wait what the OP will say about this....

Always better to ask.

I searched for special conditions for South Africans (like 90 days) but no.

He may be confusing the date his visa expires (enter before date on it which is 3 months from the date of issue) with the 60 day entry he got.

That is why I wrote the 60 day entry from it  in my post.

Even if you have made a mistake and confused your visa expiry date and your permitted until date.

even if you arrived in Thailand today, with your 60 day tourist visa and a 30 day extension then your permission to stay will expire on the 3rd August, so unless you want to be on overstay, you are going to have to look at your flight date to Bali

Thanks for your replies.

 

It seems that I have confused the dates that were shown in the Visa and you are all correct in saying that my stay will be until July 3rd and not the 19th as I initially thought.

 

I'll change my flight as advised.
