Suvarnabhumi airport security has warned the public to take care when checking in for flights out of the kingdom

The warning came after the arrest of two Algerian men who were preying on people checking in for flights in the departure hall.

Kittipong Kittikhajorn of airport security said that passengers who were naturally concentrating on their passports during check-in often forgot about their wallets giving a window of opportunity for thieves operating at the airport.

He warned the travelling public to be especially vigilant at check-in.

Arrested yesterday were two Algerian men who had committed three thefts the previous day.

Mok Thadi Bikkait, 59, and Natje Fasli, 50, were caught on CCTV after a passenger lost money, documents and credit cards.

The modus operandi of the two was to cruise the departure lounge looking for potential victims. They would approach someone checking in together and one would pretend to talk to the check-in staff dealing with them while the other would take the wallet.

They admitted that they had been thieving and it was indeed them on the CCTV. They have been detained as further evidence gathering continues.

The pair were arrested after they were spotted on the airport link train at the airport. They ran off but were apprehended on the third floor of the airport yesterday.

Thailand is a mecca for criminals with millions of gullible tourists and

holiday makers coming thru the many airports of the country making

them a hot bed for those criminals,

we never get to hear what have become of the hundreds of foreigners

criminals caught in the act of ATM scamming and other illegal activates,

presumably they got some light sentences and were sent home.....

ATM scammers do not get light sentences and sent home. The three most recent cases I know of ended with 39, 48 and 50 years each.

Bail for credit cards is almost impossible, but murderers can get it for around 500,000. Life is cheap but don't steal money.

As for these two, stealing at the airport with security and CCTV everywhere is really, really stupid.

Wonder how Algerian jails compare with Thai jails. Looking at them they've probably had experience with the former and now they're off to the latter. Just more human scum coming to Thailand.

It's good to read, and know, that positive action is being taken by the Police etc...

Foreigners committing crimes within Thailand, maybe putting a slur on the rest of the foreigners within Thailand?

Much the same as the foreign lady who placed her feet on the back of headrest.

Lock the two up or deport them both!

Send them to Antarctica. Cold will be worse than jail for them.

Friends had their phones stolen by Singaporean guy down koasan rd, police picked him up at airport and he did a year inside, friend went to see him in nick, said he was a broken man.

Thailand as the world knows it has a slack police force and even a slacker population , those that know Thailand know this isn't entirely so, those who choose to come to Thailand to do other activities that may be deemed outside the norm,  may do so , however if caught, with the penalty's and the jail conditions,  U would be advised to go else where,  like Somalia..........................:coffee1:

The airport is not in Bangkok, they will probably be taken to Samut Prakan prison.

Then sharia law.

Cut Hands off.

Off topic posts of an offensive nature have been removed, the replies have been removed as well.

My compliments to airport security. A job well done.

Now, the important question is: Can we find some way to blame the Thais for this?

Because money is important.
