Chinese tourist robbed in Pattaya in convenience store

By The Nation

A Chinese tourist filed a complaint with Pattaya tourist police early on Saturday that 2,000 yuan was stolen from her wallet by two strangers in a convenience store.

Ding Jianying, 36, told Pol Captain Thanin Kanphai, an officer on duty at Pattaya Police Station, at 1am that two strangers approached her inside the store on Naklua Soi 18 on Pattaya-Naklua Road.

Ding said the two asked her to show yuan banknotes, saying they had never seen it. She said she handed her wallet to the two – one suspected to be a Thai and the other a foreigner. She said they talked to her for a while before handing the wallet back.

She said 2,000 yuan was missing from her wallet when she was about to pay for her purchases.

Thanin said police will check footage of the store’s CCTVs.

I just cannot believe how someone might hand over his wallet to a total stranger :shock1:

Stupidity knows no bounds.

The same people who stop for lucky face scammers.

She said she handed her wallet to the two.At 01.00 fancy that!!??

CCTV will prove if this really happened or its a load of bs.

Why not just show them a note rather than hand over the whole wallet?

I call bs.

Nothing happening in Thailand today it seems ....

Hard to believe as i have never seen any Chinese get their wallet out.

Most of the Chinese who come to Pattaya are:

Cheap Charlie Chans!

....this seems a bit odd, handing over your wallet to complete strangers... more to follow of course.

Not sure this is robbery; handed over wallet when asked. Gave the wallet to those two of her/his own free will.

What?!?! You mean that guy that said I have a lucky face and good fortune ahead , but only charged me 1000 baht to remove a curse on me that I didn't know I had was a scammer ?

Gave the wallet because someone asked. NOT a robbery. Theft at best. Stupidity for sure.

Maybe those in organised tours do not spend a lot, but those who come independantly spend plenty. They can be found in all the beach front hotels, restaurants of all varieties, massage shops, malls and even bars in some areas. Be aware that they are buying up property and businesses and will have more of a stake in Pattaya than any other foreign nationality.

Close the gap in the..... "Headline".spelling and show it was an....

.Inconvenience Store.....for her

All the same .......yet another black mark for Thai tourism

These "Low-Lifes" don't give a toss about ruining people's holidays

Mostly the 50 year olds with low price all inclusive tours.   The young independent ones usually have good manner but have less money.    The 40 year olds independent ones are the biggest spenders; you can usually find them in 5000b a night Pattaya hotels.  The 50 year olds with low price all inclusive tours are hopeless and will never change.
