Work want to renew my contract for another year. They are preparing contracts etc. Do I need to go to the local hospital and do blood tests / chest xray? 

 

If so is this for the labor dept or immigration? Sounds like a waste of my time and money...

for ministry of labor work permit. usually only costs about 300 baht at a local clinic and usually only blood test for 3rd stage syph

my new work colleague had to get full blood test, xray etc. Is this because she was a new employee?

 

For a contract ext surely I only need the 100 baht medical report?

They started asking for the blood test for syphilis a few year ago.

Got a visa/work permit through BOI 1 stop shop, Didn't need it

Here we go again. Visa & work permit are issued from completely different offices.

A health check & blood test are required for work permit.

Just because you think it is a "waste of time" is of of no importance to them

In the BOI 1 stop shop you can arrange both.

If you are in Bangkok : Ratchada Thapra medical center: 30 minutes and 200 baht and your done. 5 minute walk from BTS

We got our WP via BOI too and we needed the medical certificate. I go to a local clinic and it's only 100B.

BumRunGrad: no blood test, 5 minutes of questions, 800 baht. No problems with WP.
