Thai Consulate at Savannakhet closed for a Laos Holiday on the 1st June/Non-O

Featured Replies

Open or closed?

Non-O Multiple Entry(retirement):

Copies:

Passport Pages- TM7 -check

Income Letter from US Embassy-check

Housebook- copy (TM28 and TM30)-copies- Letter from partner.

Application-check

Possible?- Leaving the country every 90 days for a spin-around is A-ok.

Not closed on June 1st for any holiday. See: http://vientiane.thaiembassy.org/en/embassy/calendar.php

The most you might get is a single entry non-o visa. They don't issue multiple entry non-o visas for being 50 or over. To get the single entry visa you will need a bank book or bank statement showing some funds in the account along with the income affidavit.

You will only need a copy of your passport photo and Lao visa on arrival.

The TM7, TM28 and TM30 forms are only used at immigration here in Thailand. No need for a letter from your partner or a house book.

Thanks-June 1st is Children's day (official holiday) in Laos so ok.  The reason I mentioned the forms was because my address isn't a hotel or condo in my name;  It was only to offer supplemental proof of where I reside should they ask. Therefore, a single would only grant me 90 days, and then, would it be possible for the local immigration to extend it?

You can apply for a one year extension of stay based upon retirement at an immigration office during the last 30 days of the 90 day entry. I assume your income affidavit shows at least 65k baht income.

When you apply for the visa attach a copy of the income affidavit to the application form and show the original if asked so you can use it to apply for the extension.

That was confirmed in a earlier long topic if I recall correctly.

HI @ubonjoe

Thanks for your unending advice on this board, saving thousands of people sleepless nights!

I'm about to hop into Vientiane tomorrow to apply for a Non Im. O (I'm married to a Thai.)

Do I need to photocopy all passport pages, or  : Marriage certificate plus a copy, signed copies of  wife's house book registry and ID card.?

Do I need financial proof, and lastly am I right in discerning that the consulate in VTN still do not issue multiple entry visas?

Many thanks for all help and advice!

Best wishes

You only need a copy of your passport photo page. Copies you mentioned are correct.

No financial proof needed. Vientiane does not do multiple entry visas.

I see from all threads stating time of opening hours the link is different

Link says 8.30 am (ok maybe 9 am as mentioned prior ) to 12 pm instead of all threads saying 11 am

& also everyone stated 2pm is the pick up time, but link says between 1 - 3 pm

So do i stick with the link

The consular section opens at 8:30 but they do not start accepting applications until 9:00 and stop giving out numbers at 11:00. The hours posted are for the consular section. They start giving out passports at 2 pm.
