May 20, 20179 yr I have a kitchen which tiles are breaking and water is coming from the cement through the cracks.I suspect that they used bad cement when installed about 7 years ago and ground water is coming through the cracks. So I'm looking for a good quality company to replace all tiles with new ones (tiles or nature stone) and to repair the cement underneath or any other problem they may find.If they deliver good work I have more work for them in the future. May 22, 20179 yr Sounds like you need to install a drain to get rid of the water before doing repairs I new a bloke who lived in Kathu that had water coming thru his laundry floor every monsoon season because of the lack of proper drainage Edited May 22, 20179 yr by madmax2
May 22, 20179 yr Sound like the builder did not lay down a waterproof membrane (plastic sheeting) before pouring the concrete. Tiles are designed to stop the concrete absorbing water from wet areas in the house. They are not designed to protect the inside of the house from water coming through the concrete. My expertise is not in construction, so I am happy to be corrected. For your sake, I hope I am wrong, because if I am correct, without a waterproof membrane, the structural integrity of you property has been compromised.
