Hello,

a friend of mine went today from Petchaburi to Bangkok, because he would like to change his Visa Status from a Tourist Visa to a Non Immigrant Visa.

He had all the documents, but as the Officer in Bangkok saw that he "lives" (he is currently staying in a hotel room on his TR) in Petchaburi, he said that he cannot do it here and he has go back to the Immigration office in Petchaburi. 

 

He was wondering because we looked together up where he has to go to change his visa and everytime we read; only in Bangkok.

 

It might be interesed for someone, who wants to go to Bangkok to change his Visa too.

couldn't he submit a TM28 to change his status to a hotel room in Bangkok?

There are other offices than Bangkok that can accept the application for a change of visa status to get a 90 day non immigrant visa entry. They are sent to Bangkok or the regional division headquarters for approval.

Best to check with the local office to find out if they will do it or not.

Three years ago I needed to change visa visa to visa student.

I was living in Bueng Kan, but I had to go to Bangkok to do some business.
The school made up my mind that this was only done in Bangkok.

I was in Chaeng Wattana, REFUSED ! Yes REFUSED !

You live in Bueng Kan, this is done in Bueng Kan.
It does not depend on the school, but on where you live.

 

That cut short to those on this forum who know everything ... huh?

 

After 2 days of transport, I arrive at Bueng Kan,

I ask if I should not leave the territory? since it is not far!
But no ! Visa changed in 10 minutes.

And go Bangkok again to start the courses.

Don't listen what Farangs can says here.

Call your immigration office in your changwat.
