Chinese man arrested for extorting money from compatriot
By The Nation

PATTAYA: -- A Chinese man has been arrested for allegedly extorting money from his compatriot by blackmailing her with a video clip of him allegedly raping her.

Pattaya police arrested Li Weibin, 26, at a room of the Centric Sea Pattaya condominium at 8pm on Tuesday.

A sting operation was planned leading to the arrest after the Pattaya Police Station received a complaint from Long Pioxue, 26, that she had allegedly been raped by Li. She alleged that Li later used the video clip of the rape to repeatedly extort money from her.

She said Li allegedly demanded Bt50,0000 more, prompting her to seek police help.

An undercover police officer delivered the Bt50,000 cash to Li at the condominium. Police have made photocopies of the banknotes for use as evidence. Once he accepted the money, police arrested him.
