Visa Overstay risk

Featured Replies

Hello!

I am currently in Thailand on a 60 day single entry tourist Visa (from USA) with option for 30 day ext. I am trying to decide if I am taking a stupid risk when I leave. What has happened is my flight is scheduled to leave about 2 hours after the end of my 60th day. My initial thought is that I will go through immigration and get my exit stamp at 21:00 or 22:00 before my Visa technically expires and should be at the gate waiting to board when it does expire. Am i stupid for not going ahead and getting a 30 day extension? I realize things can happen like the flight could get cancelled due to bad weather or some other extraneous event which I have no idea what would happen then.

Thanks in advance.

No issue whatever, at the absolute worst they'll give you a stamp (no fine for the first day), for two hours I doubt they would even bother.

Not much risk of any kind if you have an overstay of less than 24 hours. At both airports in Bangkok in Bangkok they don't fine people 500 baht for one day of over stay.

If your flight was canceled it would be the same.
