Clarification on "a balance of at least £5000 (for 6 months)" for Multiple Entry Visa @ London

Featured Replies

Does "a balance of at least £5000 (for 6 months)" as listed on the London Thai Embassy website mean...

1. You need to show a statement with a balance of £5,000 right now.

2. They want to see your past 6 months statements showing a balance of at least £5,000.

Either is easy enough to show but just not sure whether I need to be sending 6 months worth of statements or not.

So for anyone who knows for sure, is it option 1 or 2?

Thanks in advance

Option 2 and the balance always above the 5,000.  Similar answers have been given for USA embassies. They want to see money always above a threshold for those months

Yep, that's no problem. Thanks for the reply, appreciate it.

I just asked my bank totype a letter saying I had x amount in ac no. So and so since so and so stamped and dated . In and out of branch in 20 minutes.( Barclays) Embassy accepted it without a glance. No need to take statements. But that was 2 years ago and now have different visa. You shouldn't have any probs

It says either an original statement or a print out stamped by the bank. To save me going to the bank I'll just send them last months bank statement.

Got it without issue (sent on Monday afternoon special delivery and it was back to me by Friday the same week).

Here's what I included for anyone not sure on what they need:

  • ORIGINAL bank statement from last month showing more than the £5,000 suggested, no stamp from bank.

  • Print out of main page of self assesment from HMRC website showing my tax bill for last year.

  • Passport + photocopy of passport.

  • 2 passport style photos.

  • Print out of RETURN flights to Thailand.

  • Print out of hotel booking for first 7 nights.

  • Print out of flight out of Thailand for first visa run (just to show I had other plans and would be leaving).

I did NOT include a "company formation document" as they state on the Embassy Website as I don't have one being a sole trader.
