June 29, 20179 yr I understood that the max length of a WP was two years, but normally one year. A friend from the UK is adamant that he is being offered a three year work permit, in addition to the three year contract as a Chef in a hotel in Thailand. Could this be true?
June 29, 20179 yr The maximum length of time a work permit can be issued for is 2 years according to section 21 of the the working aliens act of 2008. Download: Alien Working Act 2551 en - ThaiLaws.pdf
June 29, 20179 yr Seems likely to be a misunderstanding. I suspect the employer is simply guaranteeing to sponsor your friend for work permits for three years, not that it can be done without renewals.
June 29, 20179 yr My agent recently told me that the 4 year WP was currently under consideration. Just got a 2 year myself for my BOI company.
June 30, 20179 yr Author Thanks folks, that is my understanding of the situation. 1 or 2 years with renewals.
June 30, 20179 yr Mine was issued in July 2015 until Dec 2015 of that year but on the next page was a 2 year stamp extending to Dec 2017. This was all done at one time, so I got a 2.5 year. Very strange. My company takes care of every thing. :-)
