Multiple tourist visa

Featured Replies

We are an American couple who have retired to Chiang Mai. Our grown daughter is coming to visit from the US and has gotten a 60-day visa. We have planned a week long trip to Penang before the 60 days are up. She the plans to return with us (via air) for another 10 days before returning to the US. I assume she can return from Penang on a 30 day tourist visa on arrival.

Is there any limit on such tourist visas or could someone stay in Thailand on tourist visas forever if they were willing to fly out and back every 30 days?

What you are asking, it is NOT a VISA it is a 30 day tourist-VISA excempt.... In another words a VISA-free stay in Thailand for, in your case 30 days...

Your daughter will get a 30 day visa exempt entry without any difficulty.

Attempting to remain in Thailand using multiple back to back visa exempt entries is a bad idea and will attract the attention of the Immigration officers.

She will get a 30 day visa exempt entry (not a tourist visa) when she returns from Penang.

There would be no need to leave every 30 days since the entry can be extended for 30 days at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht.

It is not longer possible to stay here by getting 30 day visa exempt entries. Immigration has tightened up on them and often will take them to the side to question them about what they are doing here.
