What's pushing up little dirt mounds in my yard? Infestation or something innocuous?

Featured Replies

These little dirt mounds are showing up all over our yard in Chiang Mai. What would be doing this? We moved into this house very recently, so I have no idea if this is normal or not.

Thanks.

My opinion is it's good to have them as they help to get air and nutrients into the soil.

And if you rake them out over the lawn...it's good Topsoil.

Earthworm casts.   A sign of healthy soil, and extremely good for the garden.

Have you seen the film 'Tremors'   ;-)

I understand what you say......but.....would one not end up with great soil maybe, and not a lot you can do with it, the nice lawn to look out at would be no longer a pretty sight.

Not even sure if a vegetable patch is possible under the circumstances, or pleasnt to look at either?

Natures version of the rollers with big spikes you use the punch holes in the soil under the grass and saves having to dig in fertiliser etc on your cabbage patch. All good, nothing bad about it.

Amazing Thailand. Having read the headline I said to myself, in California it would be a mole. No, not that.

Same size as worm casts in California, but in Texas they would be 50 times the size.
