WP and non B

Featured Replies

I'm asking for a friend. Must you first leave Thailand and get your non B visa in another country, before you apply for the WP. Or can you apply for the WP before you have your non B visa?

At most nearby embassies and  consulates he will need a work permit application done to get an approval letter for the application to apply for a non-b visa unless working as teacher.

A non-b visa is not need to apply for the work permit but it will not be issued until a non-b visa entry is shown.

So he can apply for WP first. But he will not get his WP until they see his Non B visa? Is that correct?

That is correct.

More accurately his employer would apply for the WP and provide the paperwork needed for the B visa application

Yes I get that and I'm sure his company will do that. The question was if he first need to have the non B before he can apply for the WP

To be precise, the OP's friend would apply for the WP using documents supplied by their prospective employer.

The applicant is the foreigner who is listed in the WP, not the employer.

For most applicants, however, the employer submits the application on the applicant's behalf using a letter if authority granted by the applicant.
