improve this vehicle

I trust that this whole thread will be of great assistance to what I expect are many English speakers now & future-wise in LOS & worldwide [ bar USA ; See note below in Preamble ], owning such Ford Ranger Pickup Trucks.

VEHICLE SPECIFICATIONS

Make ; Ford

Model Series ; Ranger

Model ; XLT ...  something ; I do not have Blue Book with me today 8-)

Type ; 4 x Door

Drive ; Rear

Transmission ; Manual [ 5 Speed ]

Manuf. Location ; Thailand

Manuf. Year ; 2000

Engine ; Diesel [ NOT “Common-Rail unfortunately ], Turbo, Aluminium Head [ so I am told ]

Mileage ; 170,000 km approx. presently

PREAMBLE ;

Immediately after completing the purchase, I brought it to a succession of Ford Dealerships ;

All within the period of 24 hours.

Successive Ford Dealerships because each had parts to do only some of the work highlighted by “ by 1st Ford Dealership.

This Ford Ranger, & all other years too, IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT FROM Ford Ranger that sold in USA [ North America ? ] market only.

I think that my very model is same as :

Mazda ; “Specific” Model ?

Holden ; “Specific” Model ?

I have misplaced the Blue Book per the vehicle this week, & aim to find it over the next day or so. 8-)

REPLACED ITEMS INCLUDED :

Fuel Filter

Oil Lubrication Filter

Oil Lubrication

Clutch Master Cylinder

Engine Head Gasket + new special “Bolts” for

UNRESOLVED “PHENOMENA” & “PROBLEMS” INCLUDE :

1.

I have only “Thai language” version of Owners Manual [ original, & given to me by the vehicle’s previous owner ]

I tried exhaustively on Internet to download free version ;

But, to no avail could I even find any.

2.

ABS LIGHT OF DRIVER DISPLAY LIT ; ABS NOT WORKING

ABS Sensor ;

1 only fitted per this Model ; At rear axle

Not working

3.

UN-NERVING” GEAR-CHANGING PHENOMENA

“Unprofessional” drivers that I & my Thai wife are, we experience the following phenomena [ but, not always ] :

Young confident mechanic at ordinary garage could not experience any such phenomena with he driving when all of us went for test-run.

Within Gear #1

In the course of accelerating for to prepare the engine revs to suit Gear #2, there appears to be suddenly no drive from engine to gears, i.e. only the engine racing

Then upon completing the gear-change into Gear #2, there is poor pickup or at least "un-nerved" gear-changing by us 2 drivers.

Within Gear #2

Ditto above in the course of changing into Gear #3

Changing from Gear #3 to Gear #2 ; No such phenomena

Within the other Gears

No such phenomena

Thus, phenomena only experienced when going from Gear #1 to Gear #2, & Gear #2 to Gear #3.

4.

Radiator Coolant depletion

.

Ordinary garage spotted the, or a, cause immediately ;

Bonnet / Hood – because of the Rubber Stops that are on mating surface of body are too short – has been indenting the Radiator in 2 places for quite a while.

Presently, a hole on top that escaped the attention of all 3 Ford Dealerships.

Radiator material is aluminium.

Mechanic was not able to aluminium-weld or braze it.

But, he did repair it with Epoxy-Cement.

And, he replaced the rubber stops with higher ones.

He recommends buying a new radiator. ;

He thinks that a new radiator will cost THB 3,000 approx.
