BANGKOK: -- A man was killed and a woman severely injured when a van crashed into the rear of their car on a Bangkok road early Monday morning, causing the car to crash into a garbage truck.

The accident happened at about 5.40am at a U-turn spot on Ram Indra Road in Bang Khen district near the mouth of Soi Ram Indra 14.

Police said Rachan Na-Phatthalung, 53, died behind the wheel and Jirasuda Na-Phatthalun, 44, was severely injured. She was rushed to Paolo Kaset Hospital.

Rachan’s Toyota Vios was crashed into by a Toyota Commuter driven by Chai Premsukjai, 32, causing the car to hit the rear of the garbage truck driven by Kasem Tongsanthia, 43.

Chai told police that he was tired after ferrying a group of passengers on Sunday night and fell asleep.

Kasem said his truck was waiting to make a U-turn when the accident occurred.

Luckily, there were no workers hanging off the back of garbage truck at the time of the accident, he added.

" Chai told police that he was tired after ferrying a group of passengers on Sunday night and fell asleep."

What about the all knowing GPS system and drivers log?

See how the mini vans are growing back like weeds?

Execute the driver to set an example for others.

Next case.

This photo is NOT from the above mentioned wreck. But it shows another garbage truck in an early morning mishap in the same general area a few years back. The driver was killed.

Do not understand the relevance of this post to the OP?!

In the OP the pick up was rammed into the back of the garbage truck - but it would appear in this picture the garbage truck was driven into the pole/wall.

Totally different circumstances....

A green garbage truck maybe, apart from that its totally irrelevant to this thread as it apparently happened some years ago, Skipper
