National reform committee on justice to conclude annual police review overhaul by Dec

BANGKOK, 25th July 2017 (NNT) - The national reform committee on justice has pledged to complete its plan to overhaul the annual police review process before the end of the year.

Chairman of the committee, Gen. Boonsang Niampradit, on Monday called for a meeting of committee members, which was the fourth of its kind and was attended by national police chief Pol. Gen. Chakthip Chaijinda and a number of executives of the Royal Thai Police.

The meeting’s main agenda included the annual review of the police for 2018 and the plan to amend laws related to the transfer and the promotion of police officers, which was carried over from its previous meeting on July 19.

At the last meeting, most objected to the consideration of seniority as the only factor in making transfers and in the promotion of any officer, because they were worried that a review without consideration of each officer’s performance could lead to inefficiency later.

The meeting agreed that this issue must be concluded before December while other reform plans can be decided before its term ends on April 5, 2018.

Why change a good thing? The senior police are those that know how the system works and know how not to rock the boat. It also gets rid of those that won't play ball. A win win situation for all.

But then the military may have something to teach the underlings? Stealth, getting on the boards of major companies, approving their own equipment even if it doesn't work, promotion of the most corruptible, lack of any morals, policing as a secondary business to the real business, being the puppets to the masters. Not all these gems may be passed on, as it could create another power base; the base that has slowly been eroded over the last 2-3 years.
