Football association to build its own stadium

The Football Association of Thailand (FAT) plans to build a new football stadium with seating capacity for 50,000 people.

FAT president Pol Gen Somyot Poompanmoung said today (July 26) the construction of the new football stadium is one of the association’s six strategies to develop Thailand’s football players.

The FAT would ask for a piece of land from the government to build, he said, adding that the location will be within Bangkok’s outskirts.

Pol Gen Somyot said the FAT will propose the stadium project to the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) over the next two years.

Pol Gen Somyot said he could not say for certain when the stadium project would be constructed and completed and ready for use.
