A trio of Far Eastern cities have been named the best value for UK travellers embarking on a long-haul city break.

Bangkok is the cheapest destination for 11 typical tourist expenses such as food and drink, sightseeing, airport transfers and weekend accommodation, according to a report by Post Office Travel Money.

This was largely because of low prices for hotels in the Thai capital, with three nights in four-star accommodation costing the equivalent of just £177 for a double room.

Tokyo was in second place, having the lowest cost of eating out. A three-course meal for two with a bottle of house wine was found to be £40 in the Japanese city - around a third of what it sets visitors back in Singapore.

Here are 10 popular long-haul city break destinations in order of least to most expensive for UK visitors:

1. Bangkok, Thailand

2. Tokyo, Japan

3. Beijing, China

Fantastic, just don't forget to take your Oxygen Tent for Beijing. The place is terrible for

breathing and the air is very dirty. You come home and wipe your face and you will think

you visited a coal mine.

The immigration in Beijing is very slow as well, just doing a connecting flight takes at least

one to two hours. Tokyo and Hong Kong are faster for sure. I also agree that the air in Bejing is

very dirty as well, They should all have a carbon tax!
