Visa options for husband of spouse with work permit?

Featured Replies

For a European woman working in Thailand with a work permit on a Non-O or a Non-B... Can her (European) husband obtain a Non-O visa (or related visa) based on his wife living and working in Thailand?

Thanks for any input.

Does the lady in question have an extension of stay (obtained from immigration) ?

He can if she has an extension from Immigration. (Not a Visa)

So, not during the 90 days of a newly issued 90 day Non-O then. Have to wait until the annual extension of stay has been awarded/granted. Is that correct?

Yes. Once the extension is granted then an "O" vsa can be obtained with copies of the passport data page and the extension together with a copy of the marriage cert.  Once the visa is obtained a matching extension of stay can be applied for during the last 30 days of the 90 day stay the visa provides.

You can do it without her having an extension of stay from immigration. When she goes to the embassy to get her visa, you can apply for your visa at the same time. Then once in the country you go to immigration to get your extension of stay. I did it this way for my wife and kids (non immigrant o's) when I first came here. More recently we have got new visas from the embassy in our home country and also got o visas for the kids and one for my wife's mum as her dependents.

You seem to have missed the point about the lady already working in Thailand with a visa !

He might be able to get a single entry non-o visa with copies or her passport photo pag,  her non-b visa and marriage certificate.

If he don't get the non-o he could get a single entry non-o visa and change to a non immigrant visa entry after she gets her extension.

Sorry Here2008, I wasn't quite clear. She does not yet have the WP. She intends to leave Thailand and get a Non-O or Non-B when the job offer is firm. I'm just collecting procedure info as I'm interested in this stuff and may be asked for my "opinions" ;)
