Featured Replies

I need some urgent professional advice regarding documentation for a Work Permit.

If someone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Mike

Work permits are normally applied for by a persons employer.

Thanks for the quick reply, I am actually looking for some specific advice regarding the required documentation my employer needs to submit with the WP3.

Thanks

Mike

Here is the DOE link

https://www.doe.go.th/prd/

Your employer could enquire what is needed at the local DOE office.

Thanks for the reply. My employer already has enquired and I need some advice about what my employer is telling me.

And?   What are you being told ?

  • Author

That I need to supply a certificate showing that I have a degree in IT as my job title will be IT project manager.

I understand from what I have read that this is not necessary and that either my previous employer or my new employer (both are part of the same multinational group) could provide letters of some kind that state I have relevant experience for the job.

If that is a requirement of the job it will have to be supplied.

You need to check the job specification/description.

It is not a requirement of the job, I wrote the job spec / description :-)

Then your discussion should be with your boss!   Has your version of the job spec been translated into Thai? If so it would interesting to know what it says.........

Thanks, I will do. But are you saying that 100% certain that if it is not in the job spec / description then it is not required and that a letter from my employer detailing relevant experience is all that is required.

They would of submitted this form. https://www.doe.go.th/prd/assets/upload/files/alien_en/bc8afbeb7da6cb4a20b059dceec95d9e.pdf

If you are already here in the country they would submit a WP1 not a WP3 form.

WP1 form with a list of required documents; https://www.doe.go.th/prd/assets/upload/files/alien_en/9b00a27ff2a929dc277b1b9ccb3f49a4.pdf

WP3 form: https://www.doe.go.th/prd/assets/upload/files/alien_en/d40063ab24bd6033dab0e0676ec7203b.pdf

As far as I am aware the DoE does not

I am no expert but my understanding is that Degrees are not asked for by the DoE unless the job specifies that one is required.

For non-teaching positions you can either supply a copy of your degree or complete a form that details your previous three jobs.

The idea is that the three previous jobs should show a level of experience that makes you a suitable candidate.

Personally I've done both with no problems at all.

Ubojoe,

Thanks for this info, I will be applying out of the country so it is the WP3 that will need to be submitted. Currently nothing has yet been done, I am just being asked to provide documentation that I do not have.

After discussing with my employer I am still having issues with their understanding of requirements.

Are there any professional Visa agents that specialize in these situations that can help my employer?

I am sure they are but it would depend upon where they are located.

The first thing to remember is that many companies do not get their documents completely correct the first time.

It is very common to get as much done as possible then go to the ministry of labour with one of the HR girls from your company.

The MOL staff are genuinely helpful and they will explain exactly what needs to be added or amended. You should be good to go on the second visit.

You don't need an agent if you do it this way. Our company actually stopped using agents because of the horrendous mistakes we found at renewal time which took a lot of time and effort for our staff to correct. We found agents do the minimum for the money, and if there was a shortcut they took it. All the agent actually does it tell you what documents to provide and then hand them in for you. Complete waste of money.

It was a steep learning curve for our staff, but now we have 2 employees who are very good at the whole process and handle everything professionally.

Thrice I have been bringing copies of my degrees to the labour dep. (Bangsaen) and thrice they looked at me like at an idiot and gave it back.
