I thought prachap looked ok, based on Google image search anyway.  Nicer than chumpon or pranburi which are the other nearby stations. What am I missing?

lets see, whats wrong with Prachuap ?

too many girly bars for a start.

too many drunken long short wearing , tattooed, drunken tourists.

the filthy water that they pumping the ocean.

the lack of fine dining.

not enough girly bars.

too many stupid Thai's driving around at 100 MPH.

no taxi's or tuk tuk , so to get anywhere you have to WALK !

too many Leister fans.

overpriced accomodation.

Not sure why there is such negativity about Prachuap Kirikhan in some of the posts. It is a pleasant enough town, very tidy, plenty of hotels and restaurants, a beautiful beach right in the town (Prachuap Bay) and if you want more you proceed to Ao Manao (Lemon Bay). This is located on Thai Air Force territory but accessible for the public. Definitely worth a visit. Plenty of dining options there too.

About Kuiburi, some nice beaches with plenty of resorts right at them. Very quiet but good to relax for a couple of days. Should have your own transport though.

Only went to Prachuap once.

I enjoyed it except for the loud English retirees at a cafe who insisted that everyone should hear their conversation whining about the cost of pay tv. Easy to get up and walk away...which we did.

Nice beach and good restaurant just on the beach near where we stayed. Funny seeing a Thai cowboy hawking his nag for tourist to ride.....not that there were many tourists on the beach.

Went to a couple of large hotels which seemed overly expensive for a what is essentially a place to sleep.

Found a small hotel that wasn't expensive. Run by a Thai lady with three or four Burmese girls. Very nice people.

When I say small hotel it had everything you would expect, pool, breakfast included, bar etc etc

I'd go back there no worries. I reckon I could live there easily.
