A speeding pickup truck lost control and crashed into the front door of a Siam Commercial Bank branch in Samut Songkhram on Monday afternoon, coming to a halt right in front of the teller counter. Police said the accident happened at 4pm

The pickup, driven by 24-year-old Akkaradej Nanephueng, crashed through the glass door of the bank’s Saphan Putthalertla branch.

All those inside the bank escaped unhurt.

Akkaradej told police that he was heading to Don Hoi Lord to pick up his girlfriend when the accident occurred.

He said that when he exited a soi beside the bank, he lost control of his truck due to the slippery road surface during the rain.

His vehicle then grazed another pickup in front of the bank, before veering into the front door.

Pol Captain Chunnat Chaiyayo of Mueang Samut Songkhram police station said the driver had been found to have had a high alcohol level in his blood, and was charged with driving while drunk and causing damage to the property of others.

"He said that when he exited a soi beside the bank, he lost control of his truck due to the slippery road surface during the rain."

At last, somebody who admits it's that damned rain causing all these accidents, mishaps, crashes etc. Speed or poor driver control was not a factor.

I think the Police must have a tick box questionnaire where you can choose slippery road or brake failure both carry a 500bt fine, so take your pick

The girl behind the desk seems totally unfazed by this incident   A regular occurrence perhaps?

"...due to the slippery road surface during the rain." NAH, just the 'normal' brain fade! Another brain and it would be lonely.

he was pissed. lucky he didn't kill anyone. it'll cost him a hell of a lot of money to get out of that. they should have some drink driving campaigns here. it's kind of normal to drink drive here when as the photo shows, it's not a good idea
