BANGKOK: -- Officials at Suvarnabhumi Airport's wildlife checkpoint apprehended a Vietnamese passenger who was bound for Luang Prabang in northern Laos along with a rhino horn which had been cut into five pieces on Tuesday afternoon.

Vietnamese national Foong Ngab Ha, travelled from Angola and stopped for transit at Dubai and Bangkok before continuing to Luang Prabang.

Officials questioned and searched the man at Suvarnabhumi Airport after an X-ray machine detected items suspected to be rhino horn parts in his two bags. They found the large rhino horn cut into five pieces.

The passenger was charged with violating the Wildlife Preservation and Protection Act, the Customs Act and the Animal Epidemics Act and was handed over to Suvarnabhumi Airport Police for further legal actions.

They probably thought it was a sex toy.

That rhino is probably dead because of this kind of thing.  He should receive the full extent of the law .....  penalties should be much harsher

This type of black market trade is sickening if you seen what they do to Samaritan tigers.

Put him down!

Fair chance I reckon. You ever tried sawing the horn off a live Rhino? They do tend to get a little restless at that point.
