By The Nation

NAKHON PHANOM: -- Gun-toting plainclothes police chased a drug suspect in the compound of Nakhon Phanom Provincial Hospital on Monday night.

A hospital staff member called Muang Nakhon Phanom Police Station at about 9.45 pm to inform police that there had been a shooting incident in front of the hospital’s emergency department.

Police found Captain Satien Pattanachote, a plainclothes border patrol officer, directing the operation to arrest the suspect.

An undercover office in Satien’s team had contacted the suspect, Natthawut Eknuphan, 28, to deliver drugs at the carpark beside the emergency department.

When the suspect turned up, allegedly with 200 methamphetamine pills, police came out from the hiding to arrest him.

The suspect crashed his motorcycle into a police car and ran away.

He climbed over a wall but was was soon captured.

The suspect claimed he was hired by a friend to deliver the drugs to a buyer for Bt4,000.
