Tours to America for Thais?

Featured Replies

Those recent posts about the Thai tourists in the USA at Yellowstone National Park made me wonder if there are tour packages Thais can buy and go visit the USA?  With all the issues people have with getting their Thai friends or significant others into the USA, I was curious.

Last spring when I was traveling from the Canadian border to Mexico, I went through a number of National Parks.   There were a lot of Asian tourists, mostly Chinese.   I spoke with a young man, maybe in his early to mid 20's who had a group of Chinese tourists and a van.   He was ethnic Chinese, but I suspect he was either born in the US or had spent the vast majority of his life in the US.   He had no hint of an accent and was very westernized.

He said he gets hired by small groups and takes them pretty much anywhere they want to go, but mostly in the Western US.   He explains the rules, laws and guides them in the cultural differences.   His current group of maybe 6 people were pretty well behaved, but he said that some groups are harder to deal with and just don't want to listen.

Most of the major cities have tours available and some are offered in different languages, but I don't know, other than making contact, if you can find a tour that takes you to numerous cities -- at least not for Thais.

There are a lot of Thais in the US -- I think "Thaitown" in the LA area is the largest settlement of Thais outside of Thailand.
