Alert issued for flood-prone areas as tropical storm is approaching

The Royal Irrigation Department (RID) yesterday issued flood alert for all its irrigation officials in flood-prone areas to prepare for possible flooding as a tropical storm is approaching Vietnam and it will have widespread impact on Thailand’s northern and northeastern regions from tomorrow.

RID director-general Thongplaew Kongchan said remote sensing images received by RID’s Smart Water Operation Centre (SWOC) from the Himawari satellite at 6.00pm yesterday showed that the “Pakhar”tropical storm is moving 20-kilometres westerly towards Hainan Island and upper Vietnam during August 27-28.

He said as the storm moves closer on land, more rains are expected in Thailand’s northern and  northeastern regions, with heavy rains in some areas.

He said the satellite images also showed increased rains from today in  Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phrae, Uttaradit, Tak, Sukhothai, Kampaengphet, Uthaithani, Phetchabun, Nong Bua Lampoo, Udonthani, Sakhon Nakhon, Bung Karn, Nakhon Ratchasima, Surin, Sisaket, Ubon Ratchathani, Yasothorn, Amnart Charoen, Prachinburi, Srakaeo, Pathumthani, Bangkok, Samut Prakarn, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat, Surat Thani, and Nakhon Si Thammarat.

Well i for one am enjoying the cloudy skies, and cooler temps.

I like the way they let the children from the local kindergarten draw on the clouds.... such forward thinking in getting them involved !!

does make you wonder; smoke n mirrors ? thailand ? are you kidding !

Reasonable self explanatory visual graphics  cloned  from Television  weather presentations.

Seems  some  would  prefer the inclusion of  some  scantily clad  bimbo  waving a star wars  wand !

With  luck  your  pink  rose  bushes float away !

Well for the areas of Thailand that will be affected by this storm, just know that you are not

alone in the high water. Houston Texas and surrounding areas are getting way too much water

as well by Hurricane Harvey. Good luck to all.

Geezer
