M.L. Panadda urged teachers and parents to monitor children’s online activities

BANGKOK, 28th August 2017, (NNT) - The Deputy Education Minister has urged teachers and parents to monitor the online activities of children and help them creatively navigate the online social space in the Digital 4.0 era.

The comment by Deputy Education Minister M.L. Panadda Diskul was made during his keynote speech at the Provincial Press Association Of Thailand on the occasion of the association’s 52nd year anniversary. He then handed awards to exemplary civil servants, companies, corporate advisors, and reporters.

According to the Deputy Education Minister, the Digital 4.0 agenda calls for the modernization of education with an emphasis on connecting schools and homes. He said that social media must be used responsibly and students should access social media to gain academic knowledge. He quoted one of the teachings of His Majesty, King Bhumibol Adulyadej that recommends mutual affection and respect between teachers and pupils.

M.L. Panadda also stated that people should check their facts before posting online messages while maintaining moral values and keeping ethical codes in mind, in order to prevent distress and create rifts in society.

when you see 6 year olds with their own phones texting/using social media you have to wonder at the intelligence of their parents, eating at a restaurant you see mum, dad, brothers and sisters all on their chat pages and not even talking to each other you can see parenting going down the toilet but this is Thailand butI am sure it happens in other countries as well, here though the lack of parenting skills/schooling & maturity doesnt help

Isn't that already the job of the guys in the computer crime task force? Maybe it's a result of the "inactive post" policy. Now teachers and parents are asked to do the job. It would definitely help if there is an award like for the volunteer traffic "informers".

Some Police forces in the UK are actively supporting parents and teachers to get more involved with what's going on with kids and social media.

Maybe if they start teaching critical thinking than making them not to think.and question anything. The education here is lacking in life skills. The kid learn more on the Internet than what the school teaches them.

Really a discrace.

Only problem is if they teach critical thinking  "the power's that be" position is threaten

so they don't want to do that.

They want obedient robots  :sad:

Either my memory is shot or this Pannada guy was the one that bought the worlds most expensive clocks for parliament. Actually they were normal digital clocks but he paid 100s of % more than the max RRP. Surely a govt so serious about graft as Prayuth's would not keep this grifter in employ?

this theory has received a lot of traction in recent years;

i believe the decision-makers in education here come from a  generation that Really Believes that conformity is best; they themselves are not critical thinkers  and , thus, cannot see the value in it
