Docs required for Non Immigrant O Visa (Thai marriage/spouse) visa - PENANG

Featured Replies

Hello everyone. I have tried e-mailing the Thai Consulate in PENANG, MALAYSIA several times but unfortunately had no reply.

Can anyone please tell me the (latest) documents required for a single entry (90 day)- Non Immigrant O Visa (Thai marriage/spouse) visa ?

Thank you in advance!

Marriage certificate plus a copy, copies of your wife's house book registry and ID card signed by her.

You may also need to show at least 200k baht in the bank.

My understanding is that required funds are 400k unless this has recently changed.

400,000 is the requirement for a multi O.

You may only get a single the first time, some have reported that.

If you have the 400,000 and you end up with a single, 90 days, you can convert it to an extension of stay at your local Imm' office meaning reporting every 90 days at the same office.

Did mine in Penang earlier this month.

Marriage cert original and a copy.

Wife's ID card copy.

Wife's house book copy.

Bank book and copy with 400k.

I got a multi. I used Jim Tachinamurthy's agency service so I didn't need to attend the embassy myself.

For Penang it's only got to be in the bank AFAIK.

Yes.  You can put the cash in, update bank book, make a photocopy of the pages showing your name/acct #, and the ending balance, and take that with you.  No seasoning is needed.

You only need the copies of the relevant bankbook pages; no need to show the original.

How to get the money in the Thai account to get the visa when you first need the visa to open the Thai bank account? Chicken and egg?

My advice is to have it with you just incase it was asked for.

I don't recall any reports of Penang asking for the original though.

Thanks Joe,

Last one with Jims in Jan 17 was not a requirement. The bank book was.As you say best to take everything just in case.
