    A good indication of an upcoming coup is the subtle movement of troops and armoured vehicles. I happened to be in Mae Sot when Taksin was ousted and the masses of troops there were getting ready to close the border. Keep your eyes open for unusual happenings.

    Many people collect old munitions (don't as me why but they do) and any of the major border towns sell these openly. The ones pictured have been defused and are as much use as scrap iron!
