Europe Says Russia Aids Iran War Effort, Warns United States

European allies say Russia is providing more direct support to Iran than the United States has publicly acknowledged, according to diplomatic sources.

Get today's headlines by email image.png

Officials from several European countries have privately and publicly told American counterparts that Moscow is materially assisting Iran’s military activities.

They argue the conflict involving Iran is increasingly linked to the war in Ukraine, pointing to growing cooperation between Moscow and Tehran.

Europe warns of deeper Russia–Iran cooperation

A British official said defence ties between the two countries have expanded significantly in recent years. According to the United Kingdom’s assessment, Iran supplied Shahed drones to Russia for use in Ukraine and also transferred production expertise.

The official said this exchange has contributed to advances in Iran’s drone warfare capabilities, although they could not confirm any recent transfer of hardware from Russia to Iran.

France and Ukraine raise intelligence concerns

Jean-Noël Barrot, foreign minister of France, described the relationship between Moscow and Tehran as “two-way cooperation”.

He said there are reasons to believe Russia is now supporting Iran’s military efforts, particularly operations that could target American interests.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, president of Ukraine, said Kyiv possesses what he described as “irrefutable evidence” that Russia is supplying signals and electronic intelligence to Iran.

According to Zelenskyy, intelligence briefings indicated Russian satellites photographed several facilities linked to the United States and its allies across the Middle East.

Locations cited included the joint US–UK military base on Diego Garcia as well as sites in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Qatar.

Zelenskyy made the remarks while visiting the United Arab Emirates, where he has promoted Ukrainian anti-drone technology to Gulf states concerned about Iranian attacks.

Washington plays down impact

Senior US officials have taken a more cautious public stance on the extent of cooperation between Russia and Iran.

Marco Rubio, the US secretary of state, said Moscow’s actions were not affecting American military operations.

“There is nothing Russia is doing for Iran that is impeding or affecting our operation or its effectiveness,” Rubio told reporters following a meeting of the Group of Seven countries.

However, other Western officials have taken a stronger view. Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s top diplomat, said Russia is providing intelligence support that could help Iran target American personnel.

She told G7 leaders that Moscow was helping Tehran gather intelligence and providing drone-related assistance.

Broader security concerns among allies

John Healey, the UK defence secretary, told the BBC News he believed the “hidden hand” of Vladimir Putin could be seen behind Iran’s military activities.

US defence secretary Pete Hegseth said the administration of Donald Trump was closely monitoring contacts between the countries.

A recent assessment from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence said there is “selective cooperation” among Russia, Iran, China and North Korea.

The report said the countries share a goal of countering US influence but stopped short of describing their relationship as a full alliance.

Meanwhile, demand is increasing among Israel, Gulf states and Ukraine for US-made missile interceptors used to defend against incoming attacks.

Rubio said current transfers of defensive equipment to Ukraine had not yet been affected by rising demand in the Middle East, although he acknowledged the United States could redirect weapons in the future if necessary.

This is not theoretical anymore. Israel is getting battered. And when they run out of interceptors - likely within weeks - Iranian heavy missiles will have free rein over Israeli skies. So there is already talk in the Hebrew press of deploying the Samson option before Iran goes nuclear, again likely within weeks.

We ain't in Kansas anymore.

Which invariably leads to the Benjamin Button proposition for Israel where time so to say reverses and Jewish immigrants return to their respective homelands and Israel disbands.

I don’t believe Israel is being 'battered' into submission; rather, I suspect Iran are strategically husbanding their top-tier assets. Their primary goal seems to be holding back their most advanced precision weaponry to eventually blind the U.S. targeting the 'eyes and ears' (radar, SIGINT, and satellite uplinks) in the region.

Currently, they appear to be using secondary-tier hardware against Israel to inflict civilian 'fatigue' and terror a proof of concept designed to drain Iron Dome interceptors without revealing their full hand. However, if Iran has successfully preserved its elite missile stock through this onslaught, then 'Stage Two' could see truly critical infrastructure come into scope. Iran operates on a highly calibrated calculus of proportionality; they are playing a long game, even when faced with an unprecedented and massive response. They had 8 years of the Iran/Iraq war to hone their militray skills - a war is best training ground ever for a military.

If they move to "Stage Two," the targets change from "civilian terror" to "Economic Decapitation." This means:

Desalination Plants: Israel’s water supply.

Power Grids: The "Light" of the country.

The Port of Haifa: The economic windpipe.

It also means we are in a fight to the finish and a economic crisis probaly akin to Great Depression 2 and global panic.

Chris Hedges makes a few good points but you never know to who he is really working. Noam Chomsky is a favor for a two state solution for Palestine and it turns out he used to be connected to Epstein that was connected to Ehud Barak. Hard to know who is really working for who. MSM is full of intel agents that usually take over the narrative and lead people the wrong path.

Quote:

Noam Chomsky is a vocal critic of Israeli policies toward Palestinians and has long advocated for Palestinian self-determination, though he explicitly rejects the label "pro-Palestine" in the sense of uncritical support for all Palestinian factions or actions.

  • Two-State Solution: Chomsky consistently supports a two-state settlement based on the 1967 borders as the only realistic and politically viable path to resolve the conflict, viewing it as a necessary first step toward eventual binational cooperation or federation.

  • Critique of Occupation: He argues that Israel's occupation is illegal and that its actions in the West Bank and Gaza are "much worse than apartheid" in South Africa because the Israeli state seeks to displace or imprison Palestinians rather than exploit their labor.

  • Historical Stance: While he was historically a non-Zionist who advocated for a binational state based on Arab-Jewish working-class cooperation prior to 1948, he maintains that since Israel's establishment, it should have the rights of any state, provided it respects the rights of Palestinians.

  • Rejection of "One-State" Illusions: He dismisses the immediate "one-state solution" as a political illusion that effectively supports Israel's continued occupation, noting there is no international support for a single state where Palestinians would outnumber Jews, leading to Israel's dissolution.

  • Advocacy: Chomsky has campaigned for a binational state based on equal rights and self-determination for both national groups, arguing that the current status quo is a "state of permanent military confrontation" that threatens regional stability and moral integrity.

However since the US Senate is unwilling to even investigate some of the massive amounts of corruption that went on with Bidden and his family, Somali fraud, NGO fraud , election fraud they are allowed to get away with it. There is no justice for these kinds of people in the US.

More distraction, more pathetic deflection. Hunter was accused of accepting money from the Ukrainian government in return for consulting. Do you really think that is in any way comparable to the billions upon billions of dollars that the Trump Mafia Clan has amassed in the first 14 months of his presidency? Really? Objectively? Are you going to tell me that you don't think Trump's pathetic sons buying a drone company at the same time that Trump declares war on Iran is any sort of conflict of interest, or smells like corruption?

And the Hunter Biden thing was investigated to death, why aren't any members of the GOP raising issues with regard to Trump's corruption? Do you know why? They've been neutered by the new fascist king.

And what else should we expect due to Trump's acting IAW rules of Putin. We know from the Mueller investigation (confirmed by Jack Smith investigation blocked from public disclosure but then in US Congressional hearing, Jack Smith confirmed Russian influence in the 2015 election and Congressfolks can release hearing results which they did on this issue as well as the classified documents investigation by Jack Smith calling for an indictment too) (see Youtube Congressional hearings on Jack Smith investigations). Russia meanwhile continues to rake in billions of dollars (or whatever currency needed) for oil sales once sanctioned by now Trump has removed most of those sanctions and Russian economy can get back to more arms against the Ukraine. Our Allies seem to be well aware of the Russian influence on the issue of support to Iran so the Trump circle must know it too and in allowing the president to do this should make those people traitors to the US and all IMHO should be impeached , the sooner the better.

I will follow up my post with this.......

On Saturday, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed that Russia – already accused of sharing military information and hardware with Iran during the war – had taken satellite images of the Saudi base in the days before the strike.

“Do they [Russia] help Iranians?” the Ukrainian President said in an interview with NBC. “Of course. How many per cent? One hundred per cent.”

It is the latest of several successful Iranian hits on US bases in the region which, it emerged this week, had forced some personnel to evacuate to the relative safety of nearby offices and hotels.

Coming almost four weeks since the launch of Operation Epic Fury, a war US President Donald Trump promised would enable the Iranian people to overthrow the regime, the attack suggests the Pentagon underestimated the potency and resilience of Tehran’s offensive capability.

The destruction of an E-3 Sentry is a particular setback for US Central Command (Centcom) and whilst US personnel are being injured and killed by the Iranians, with help from the Russians, trump lets Russia do what it wants.......shame on donald trump.

Funny you should mention Chomsky his friendship with Epstein was certainly a blind spot. However, at the end of the day, he remains a powerful intellectual who has left a legacy of great work in his wake. Sometimes we need to separate the man from his work: condemn one side where necessary, but praise the other if it's merited.

I was just thinking the other day that Chris Hedges is a worthy successor to Noam. He is deeply moral to boot; his beliefs clearly stem from a place of profound moral probity. He is preacherman par excellence and he sees Israel for what it is a - settler state proxy for US hegemony in the middle east intent on territorial expansion and ethno-fascist Jewish supremacy. Otto Preminger's Exodus myth has long died.
