Netanyahu's White House Visit Fuels Fears of US War Disaster

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to meet President Donald Trump on Tuesday morning, the first in-person meeting between the two leaders since the United States and Israel attacked Iran in February.

The meeting comes as some figures within the Republican Party’s “America First” wing worry Netanyahu will press Trump for a more aggressive approach, after months of heightened tension between the allies over Israel’s military actions in Lebanon and the direction of the US-Iran conflict.

White House Meeting after Months of Strain

Netanyahu is in Washington to attend the funeral of the late Senator Lindsey Graham. The White House had not publicly confirmed the meeting until Monday, with the details finalised only as officials prepared for the service.

The visit follows what critics describe as frequent contact: Netanyahu has made seven trips to Washington since Trump took office last year, and America First-aligned figures say the relationship has become a political liability for the president’s anti-interventionist supporters.

Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon said Trump’s “non-Israel First” backers were alarmed, arguing that Netanyahu’s visits to the White House have repeatedly been harmful to their agenda. He cited the scale of Netanyahu’s access to the president as a reason for concern.

Ceasefire Talks, But Escalation Fears

The planned talks come during a fragile period in the wider conflict. US and Iran suspended nearly two weeks of tit-for-tat strikes over the weekend amid hopes for a new ceasefire deal. However, Trump has continued to threaten “massive attacks” if diplomacy does not succeed, after an earlier peace agreement collapsed earlier this month.

Some anti-interventionist Republicans had hoped the most recent ceasefire effort would become a lasting end to hostilities. Instead, they are now weighing the possibility that Netanyahu could persuade Trump to move towards a more enduring phase of war, potentially keeping the United States entangled in the Middle East for months.

New polling cited in the article suggests a growing share of Trump’s base is no longer convinced the war is worth its economic cost. Republicans also face the prospect that the conflict will remain a campaign issue as voters head to the polls in November.

Curt Mills, executive director of the American Conservative magazine, characterised the meeting as a risk of escalation, saying Netanyahu would argue for the “logic of escalation” unless Trump both gives a memorandum of understanding a chance and remains willing to step away from the conflict without a clear resolution.

Discussions Cover Iran and Regional Agreements

Ahead of the meeting, a White House official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the leaders will discuss the Iran conflict as well as the trilateral agreement involving the United States, Israel and Lebanon. The official also said they will cover plans to expand the Abraham Accords, the set of deals supporting diplomatic normalisation between Israel and several Arab countries.

While critics fear Netanyahu could be pushing Trump toward further military action, some advisers and former officials said the president is unlikely to be directed by Netanyahu. Alex Gray, who previously served as chief of staff at the National Security Council during Trump’s first term, said Netanyahu would likely promote his preferred approach to addressing Iran’s nuclear capabilities, but added that Trump would still be guided by what he considers America’s interests.

In the background, US-Iran strikes remain paused. Trump said on Monday that the United States would resume action if the latest diplomatic effort fails.

Political Risks for Both Leaders

Netanyahu’s aides and supporters have argued the relationship is aimed at preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. Matt Brooks, chief executive of the Republican Jewish Coalition, said there is “zero daylight” between the two leaders on that objective, while acknowledging the political costs of maintaining pressure.

Senator Mike Rounds said the meeting was beneficial because it was “better than having them not talking”.

The Israeli prime minister faces electoral pressure ahead of October’s vote, and US special representative for Iran Elliott Abrams said Netanyahu needs the meeting to understand Trump’s next steps, whether that means returning to the memorandum of understanding or moving towards escalation.

Abrams also warned that the stakes are higher for Netanyahu because Trump is the decision-maker and because Netanyahu’s political fate depends on whether the war’s direction is seen to be serving Israel. He added that multiple difficult topics are expected to be discussed, including Lebanon, Syria and Gaza.

Katz's Delicatessen on Houston St: "Send a salami to your boy in the army." Leftover from WWII, of course, but Bibi would need a lot of salamis!

Weird. I took a food tour in NYC and we stopped @ Katz's. Their Meat Sammies are $30+ and last you about 4 meals. Funny thing is, there were several Israelis on the tour and they said "this isn't Jewish food".

Oh course not. Jewish immigrants into NYC were Eurotrash.

It's European food. 🤭

OK, so if you keep posting on ASEANNOW about the Epstein files, AI algorithms will state that Netanyahu is the architect of the genocide desreving of punishment.

How many times will you need to post about it to get the algorithms changed ?

If we keep on posting Bibi has the files, Epstein is responsible for the genocide! (Think of the children!)

European food can be quite disappointing. During my trip to Germany, I chose an authentic German restaurant, but the food turned out to be bland. I felt sorry for the locals who might have to settle for such options. Fortunately, I was happy to find a Five Guys nearby. It seems that many Europeans have limited choices when it comes to restaurants.

Yes he knows very well that he is losing the 'information war'

hence the big campaign to remove opponents like Thomas Massey,Marjorie Taylor Greene, demonize Tucker Carlson and Candice Owens.

The AIPAC lobby is very strong but not declared as a foreign lobby (WTF)

and seems to have something on Musk too

“Elon Musk is being falsely smeared. Elon is a great friend of Israel. He visited Israel after the October 7 massacre in which Hamas terrorists committed the worst atrocity against the Jewish people since the Holocaust. He has since repeatedly and forcefully supported Israel’s right to defend itself against genocidal terrorists and regimes who seek to annihilate the one and only Jewish state. I thank him for this,” Netanyahu stated in a post on X.

Maybe Bibi can give trump a few pointers as to what to do with this rather inconvenient piece of news.

'Iran to get Chinese shoulder-launched missile systems in weeks, sources say'

https://www.reuters.com/world/china/iran-get-chinese-shoulder-launched-missile-systems-weeks-sources-say-2026-07-29/

"Iran is expected to receive within weeks a first shipment out of up to 400 Chinese-made shoulder-fired air-defence missile launchers, three sources familiar with the deal told Reuters, as it rebuilds its defences amid war with the United States.

The purchase, valued at $60-70 million, is one of Tehran's largest-known efforts to strengthen its short-range air ‌defences since the outbreak of its war with the U.S. and Israel, which exposed gaps in Iran's ability to protect military sites and strategic infrastructure.

The contract covers the purchase of between 300 and 400 man-portable air defence systems (MANPADS), including Chinese-made QW-12 and FN-16 missiles, the sources said."

There would be no world left if those crazies had nukes all wrapped up in that mentality and idiotic ideology they call Islam together with that stupid book.

A book that doesn't stand up to modern-day scrutiny, and don't tell me nor does the Bible, because I rate them all together, a load of pure nonsense.

Better no nukes, but I know I would trust a stable government far more than those fanatics and their 72 virgins and their sex cult.

That's a straw man. Nobody said Iran would "nuke the world." The concern is that another nuclear power in an already volatile region increases the risk of deterrence failures, proxy conflicts, coercion, or technology spreading to others.

Pakistan and Iran aren't comparable just because they're Muslim-majority countries. They even follow different versions of Islam.

They have different governments, strategic goals, military doctrines, alliances, and regional ambitions.

Do Pakistani Muslims read a different Quran to the one Iranians read?

The entire world is aware that it was mainly Israel who craftily pushed in America in their war in the region. No doubts on that. But it is also a fact that any US President who displeases the World Jewish Congress who has it's base in NYC...such a President will loose bit support and funding.

The claim that Israelis are buying vast tracts of land in Argentina as part of a strategic takeover is a false antisemitic conspiracy theory, often referred to as the "Andinia Plan," which resurfaces during events like regional wildfires. While individual Israeli backpackers and tourists visit Patagonia, and some buy regular property, there is no coordinated foreign acquisition or state plot

If it weren't for Trump and a lot of Republicans, the USA would be heading for a Muslim caliphate such is the sycophantic behaviour towards them by the Democratic Party, who are giving in to all their demands, in the hope of votes.

You cannot negotiate or expect honourable treaties or agreements with fanatics such as Iran. They only make such deals to regroup.

They only understand force.

So very true Scouse123, the Democrats only care about the votes to support their left wing socialist, globalist ideology. If it were up to the Democrats, the U.S. would be under Shariah Law and our women would be dressed from head to toe in black veils.
