Palestinian American Confronts Settlers Besieging Home

Lou Ridi, a Palestinian American, said his home in the West Bank has been besieged by Israeli settlers for more than a week, leaving him and others in the village “terrified”.

Ridi travelled from the United States to visit his home, where his brother has been living. After arriving at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport from Ohio on Monday, he told reporters that he had watched the confrontation remotely for days using security cameras at the property.

“I have been watching this live for many days and now it is the second week, I can’t sleep,” Ridi said. “I can’t let the settlers to steal my house while I was watching … so I prefer to be with [my brother] in the house and not stay watching on the security cameras.”

Settlers Surround Multiple Homes

Verified video shared with ABC News showed groups of settlers surrounding more than one home in the village. People inside the houses said they were unable to leave for several days.

The Israeli military, the IDF, has declared the area a “closed military zone” but, according to witnesses and footage, has not dispersed the settlers. Videos also showed soldiers mixing with the settlers outside the Palestinian homes, including scenes of soldiers shaking hands, sharing drinks and praying.

Ridi told ABC News last week that watching the events unfold was “terrifying”, after settlers attacked his home.

Water Cut Claims

Palestinian families said they were in a “state of terror”. They accused the settlers of cutting off water lines and preventing them from leaving the area.

On Tuesday, Reuters reported filming Ridi confronting the settlers outside his house. The dispute escalated quickly as the two sides exchanged accusations.

“You came to make a mess, ha?” an Israeli settler was heard saying in the recording. Ridi responded by saying: “You are a terrorist settler, you are a garbage settler, you know what that means? You stink. Move, move.”

Israeli soldiers intervened soon afterwards and the settler moved away from the home. A tent set up near the village houses was taken down, ABC News reported, but settlers continued to enter and leave the area, according to witnesses.

IDF, UN And US Responses

The confrontation has attracted national and international attention amid wider concern over escalating violence and displacement affecting Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

Last week, the IDF issued a statement saying “dozens of illegal structures erected by Israeli civilians have been removed from the area in an effort to curb this serious phenomenon, protect the residents, and maintain public order”. Despite that, after more than a week there appeared to be Israeli settlers still present in the area.

On Monday, the United Nations said the siege in Qusra had “eased”, and that food and water had been delivered to trapped families. UN teams also reported that three Palestinian families remained surrounded by a heavy presence of Israeli soldiers and settlers.

The events also drew a reaction from Mike Huckabee, the US ambassador to Israel. He criticised what he called “Israeli terrorists”, while also saying in a separate comment on social media that “the IDF & Israel Police have gone at our request to remove the Israeli terrorists doing this.”

Netanyahu Comments

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said settler violence against Palestinians was being carried out by only 150 “juveniles”, despite international criticism of Israel’s policies in the West Bank.

Sell your Judean house to Israelis, then take your Brother and family to live in the USA

With your mindset, you also have to accept that there could come a day when the balance of power shifts, Israel can no longer be protected, and Jews are driven out again. That is where this continuous all or nothing rhetoric becomes dangerous. Around 1882, before the major Zionist immigration waves, there were only about 24,000 Jews living in Palestine. Should they all have moved out and lived somewhere else?

And the way to stop that happening is for all the Palestinians to emigrate somewhere else .

Peace will prevail on the land and anti semitism around the World will decrease .

Palestinians stay and there will be violence and disorder forever .

Because the Zionists will continue to try and ethnically cleanse them as you have just

advocated for above.

Those who should emigrate are the Zionist, apartheid, genocidal maniacs..they should all move to New York or to Hell whichever is willing to accept them 🤮

Seems you do not understand how fragile Israel really is. Israel survives as long as it has strong allies, and right now that depends heavily on the USA. But even that support is changing. Israel was once supported much more broadly across American politics. Today Democrats have moved sharply away, and even Republican support is starting to weaken, especially among younger Republicans.

The USAs fiancial support to Israel is about 2 % of Israel's GDP.

Israel will survive with or without the USA as an Allie .

Israel could befriend China or Russia , if the USA steps aside

You agree with me .

One side should move somewhere else .

We agree on that , we just differ on who should move .

You want the Israelis to move

I want the Palestineians to move .

We both agree on the solution to the problem

Your sudden shift from the USA to China or Russia as Israel’s next ally made me smile. Look at how much of the region’s security system is built around US bases, weapons and pressure, even the push for Saudi Arabia and the UAE to normalize with Israel. Alliances change, and that is exactly my point. Israel should be very careful about building its future on permanent protection from whichever great power happens to be strongest today.

Well, you give a pretty good picture of why history keeps repeating itself.

Not really the same situation. Norway is not surrounded by hostile states questioning whether it should exist. And if Israel uses nuclear weapons, it is pretty much sure suicide.

Israel isn't surrounded by hostile countries questioning its right to exist either .

Israel's neighbours , Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon all accept Israel's right to exist .

Are you sure? Governments recognizing Israel is one thing, what the populations actually think is another. Egypt and Jordan have peace treaties with Israel, but public opinion across much of the Arab world has become far more hostile after Gaza. Lebanon does not even have normal diplomatic relations with Israel.

And even in the USA the shift is obvious. Gallup found in February 2026 that 41% of Americans sympathized more with Palestinians and 36% with Israelis.

You have to be realistic. Terror and overwhelming force can create attention, but they also create hatred and change opinions. History has shown that many times.

I think Israel may trust the prophecy too much. Deuteronomy speaks of Israel returning to the land, Ezekiel of enemies attacking Israel and being destroyed. But the final vision is peace, not endless war.

Even Hegseth, the war minister, has a personal interest in the war and believes in the prophecy of Israel from river to sea. But he will not be in a position forever to actively shape reality around that belief.

Oh I see, when you said "hostile states" , you were referring to the people and NOT the Government .

So , "hostile states" now means Public opinion .

I shall remember that for the future

Yes the Zionist terrorists should move to somewhere 'safe' away from those Muslims who want to 'eradicate' them..why would you want to be slap bang in the middle of a Muslim region that you insists want to 'eradicate' you ?

You are the smaller population 'America' (Trump)

No, I am supporting the right of Israel to exist within secure borders as the homeland of the world's Jews. Two borders decided and recognized internationally, three more to go.

Many Israeli Jews have parents or grandparents who were born in Israel. Some have ancestors who had been in historical pre-Israel Palestine for centuries. Why should they leave the land of their birth?

Would you apply that principle to other countries? Should U.S. citizens leave California, Nevada, and Utah, as well as big chunks of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming, because that land once belonged to Mexico and today a lot of Mexicans don't like the U.S.?

How long do you think Hamas, Hezbollah and other non-state armed groups would exist without the support of Iran and a few Arab countries? From where do these armed groups and militias obtain their arms?

Any groups or countries that continue to try to "wipe Israel off the map from the river to the sea" will find it a hard job, whether in 10, 20, 50 or 500 years. There will be a lot of- to quote BM @spidermike007 - "blowback," as Hamas found out after the Oct. 7 attack.

Predictions of Israel's downfall are not new. George Marshall, the U.S. Secretary of State in the Truman Administration, in 1948, strongly opposed U.S. recognition of Israel as an independent state and homeland for the world's Jews. He was convinced U.S. recognition of Israel would weaken the fledgling United Nations, alienate Arab countries and endanger U.S. access to Middle Eastern oil.

"Marshall also knew that the Jewish state would be immediately set upon from Arab enemies from all directions, for which he did not believe it had the manpower or weapons to defend itself, while the United States, with its military reduction after World War II and its priorities in focusing what it had left on the Soviet threat, would be unable to support it."

Marshall's gloomy outlook for Israel proved wrong in 1948 and 78 years later, a gloomy outlook is still wrong.

And I quote you, as long as Israelis exist in the area, there will be war and trouble. Remember there were only around 24,000 Jews in Palestine around 1882. Historical belonging does not give anyone the right to remove people who are living there now. Your argument only works as long as your side has the power to enforce it.

Your rhetoric shows fatigue. Take a break, this is leading nowhere. And I think the hardest part for you is that you know I have a point, but you keep denying it.

Does anyone know of any other country which has been fiscally supported by another for 80 years??? Cut 'em loose.

That's what people said after WWII. Never again. Today Zionists are the one making it happen Ever Again. Peace? Israel doesn't know how to live in peace! Peace in how many generations? Ev, I trust you are not supporting “blowback” of the kind Israel has visited upon Gaza under the premise of eliminating Hamas. Of those 70k or so slaughtered, the IDF can’t even identify how many terrorists were among them.

I think you are right about more Sabra than new Jewish immigrants. No one wants them to be DPs any more than Palestinians.

Now it’s time for Israel to rebuild Gaza with Palestinian labour and evict the invaders from the West Bank.

As you said, they have their own country to live in.
