Briton arrested for alleged child molestation

Chon Buri - A 66-year-old former English teacher was arrested Sunday for allegedly molesting two underage boys.

Acting tourist police chief Pol Col Chuchart Suwannakhom told a press conference that Morrish Richard Jeremy was arrested for having sex with a 12-year-old boy and 14-year-old boy and took their pictures.

Chuchart said police found a lot of pornographic pictures of boys in the Briton's notebook computer.

The Briton was arrested at his rented house in Chon Buri's Bang Lamung district.

Chuchart said the man adopted the two boys from their parents, promising to be their stepfather but later sexually abusing them.

Adopted them legally? Or just assumed guardianship? Does anyone know? Sorry to go off on a tangent, but I've been told I can't adopt "my" son legally as I'm single & farang. I always assumed that those laws were made to stop child abuse, but if he managed to legally adopt these two kids, that makes rather a mockery of that theory. Poor kids :o

He was 66. That means he has not worked legally (if ever) as an English teacher for at least 6 years- work permits are not routinely (or easily) handed out for those over the age of 60. It's hard to imagine why the fact that he was a "former teacher" was mentioned, except to justify further harassment of teachers, which will no doubt come in the form of further ineffective regulation of the LEGAL teachers (as no harassment has yet apparently taken place of the truly illegal teachers- deportation, etc.). I think if they wish to mention he was a "former teacher," they should also mention the school that was his "former employer."

I'd also like to see the names of the negligent "parents" mentioned, as I doubt their arrangement or their responsibilities to their children would stand up to legal scrutiny.

Lots of people need to be hanged high here, but I only see one name.

"S"

P.S. The fact that it is claimed by unknown sources that this guy was a "former teacher" at some unknown time at some unknown school with some unknown degree of legality is not going to turn this thread into a teacher-bashing thread. Let that be an advance warning to the membership. One flame has already earned a holiday.

petedk, don't think any kneejerk reaction is nessesary the pri*ks a F**king pedophile. The only knees jerking should be his at the end of a rope.

I don't think I could have said it any better than this.

I totally agree draggons

PKG

I also agree with you both. I was just wondering what further restrictions or control of foreign teachers the government will impose now. It seems that every time a pedophile teacher is arrested they make further restrictions that seem to hit many other people. For instance the tightening up of the 90 day rule etc.

I agree it's unacceptable that these pedophiles come here and abuse the system. Sadly they don't seem to receive a very strict punishment which would deter others. Back in England or Denmark where I lived these guys would get long prison sentences and would often be subject to harassement (even murder) by other prisoners. Here (and other SE Asian countries) they can often buy themselves out of serious trouble.

It's normal to state the guys occupation. I don't think all butchers would be worrying if it said, "former butcher". They wouldn't feel the need to say which shop he made sausages for either.

Paedophile Caught for Molesting Two Young Boys

According to the policy of the Royal Thai Police and Central Investigation Bureau; they have assigned Police Colonel Choochart Suwannakhom, Acting Commander of Tourist Police to inspect and suppress crime that affects the tourism of Thailand.

With this in mind, the Pattaya Tourist Police have speeded up suppressing crime under the supervision of Deputy Commander of Tourist Police - Police Colonel Manoo Mekmork, Superintendent of Tourist Police Region 2 - Police Colonel Thanankitti Boonyasing, and Deputy Superintendent of Tourist Police Region 2 – Police Lieutenant Colonel Sayam Boonsom.

Orders have been given to Inspector of Pattaya Tourist Police – Police Lieutenant Colonel Wuthichart Luensukhan and his team to investigate the exploits of a foreign individual living in Pattaya after receiving information that this suspect has been sexually molesting under aged children at a house in Soi Nong Yai (opposite Bangkok Hospital Pattaya, Sukhumvit Road). When the information given was found to be true, the Pattaya Tourist Police put evidence together and sent them to the case officer of Banglamung Police Station – suggesting an arrest to be made and contacted the Pattaya Provincial Court who issued a search warrant, dated 5th May 2007.

On the 6th May the police used the warrant to search the culprit’s house in Soi Nong Yai. The team captured Richard Jeremy Morrish, a 67 year old British national, who was born in Melbourne, Australia. Inspecting the house, they found two under aged boys: one 12 years old and the other 14 years old.

When questioned, it was discovered that Morrish paid money to the children’s families to adopt the boys. He took these children into his home saying that he would take care and support them like his own children. He even hired a teacher to come to the house to teach the boys privately. However, this seemingly innocent good Samaritan was not all that he seemed as his real intention was to sexually molest the boys in the safety of his own home. In return for their sexual favours they were given computers and games, a mobile phone each and a continuous flow of money.

The children stated: “We didn’t get to go to school since our family is poor. We call him ‘teacher’. Teacher bought us from our family and took us in as his sons. He took very good care of us. He hired a teacher for us, bought us computers and games, give us money to go out wherever we want, and also continuously sends money home to our mother and father. However, teacher asked us to be in bed with him naked and do things together. He also takes videos and photos (of us) to look at every day. The agreement is, teacher told us not to talk to anyone about this and we will have a good life”.

The police did find that this pervert’s mind didn’t end just there because all the pictures found in the computer were totally unacceptable. Morrish confessed his charges since the evidence was so tight and further proceedings will be made against him.

At the Press conference, Police Colonel Choochart stated: “a lot of foreigners that are residing in the area of Pattaya are sexually molesting under aged children and the Pattaya Tourist Police are not resting. Continuous arrests have been made and when the evidence is strong; more and more arrests will be made until all is cleaned up”.

Jesus christ..............

I can't say too much on this as I will be banned for expressing an opinion, and I am not one the hang them high brigade.

People should be thoroughly investigated before being allowed to work in a profession that will get them close to Thai children, and I mean totally investigated, lifestyle and motive for being in Thailand to work for such low wages etc...............people like this guy taint each and every Farang in Thailand when stories like this come to light.

I can't say too much on this matter as the post will be removed, but believe me, I have been in Thailand for 17 years, and I have known many ............. who are not here for any other purpose than to live some wild fantasy and actually get a survival wage to boot!

As always in these reports, and the ensuing posts, the pedo is mercilessly attacked. Quite rightly.

However, the parents of the child/ren are the bigger villians by far. They are the trusted guardians, and use their children like animals. This will never be reduced unless the parents are diligently prosecuted as well. Especially the parents.

'Seemingly innocent Samaritan?' The parents thought that??? :o

Hang them higher, I say. :D

Until the Thai authorities do, this trade will simply increase. One has to question the much admired culture that allows and even promotes this sick farce to continue.

Amazing.................. how can you say that these economically disadvantaged parents that are conned into entrusting their children to a Farang who promises them education, and a lifestyle that the poor parents can never offer their children, with the sole intent of sexually exploiting the situation are more to blame than the perpitrator of the con ?

You think that he actually told the parents what he was gonna do and they agreed, these people are devious, they have to be to survive in the lifestyle they choose, how hard would it be to con a poor Family with a promise of a better life ?

Old Red, your posts are one long complaint against all things Thai, you even turn this into a Thai bashing opportunity.I will willingly help out a fellow Farang and chip in towards your airfare back to your own country if you are impoverished, if you are not impoverished, then I just cannot understand why you suffer so much in a Society that you just cannot come to grasps with.

I feel sorry for you in your obvious state of unhappiness in Thailand, I bet you never thought it would come to that point when you left wherever it is you came from.

I agree with all the sentiments expressed but are we jumping to conclusions regarding his status as a "former English teacher"?

Nowhere does it catagorically state he was an English teacher in Thailand, he could have taught English in England. Admitted the fact is that he most likely taught in LoS and is probably why his profession was reported. As has been said his former profession is hardly relevant to the case but the Pattaya ragbag English language press just love stirring things up.

Whatever the facts this is the last thing the farang teaching community needed.

PS, petedk, I wish you were correct about the harrassment people like him would get in UK jails but the truth is that they are segregated from the other prisoners to give them the protection their victims never received. :o

English Man arrested by Tourist Police accused of conducting lewd acts with minors.

Police Colonel Choochart, the acting Commander of Tourist Police in Thailand led this press conference at the Tourist Police Station in South Pattaya on Sunday afternoon which announced the arrest of an English National accused of conducting lewd acts with minors.

Acting on an arrest warrant issued earlier in the week, the suspect was arrested at house number 51/27 in Soi Nong Yai in Banglamung. The warrant number 502/2550 dated 5th May stated that the suspect was alleged to have conducted sexual acts with three boys aged between 12 and 17.

All three boys were found inside the house at the time of the arrest. At the Police Station, Mr. Richard Jeremy Morrish, aged 66, originally from Sunderland in the UK confessed to taking in the three boys after a request from their parents to support them through school.

A laptop containing sexually explicit images of the boys was found along with pictures around the house. Mr. Morrish, a former teacher here in Thailand, who is now living on a retirement visa denied all allegations and is now being held at Banglamung Police Station after bail was refused.

The initial complaint came after one of the boys was caught glue sniffing and was told to leave the house by the suspect. The British Embassy in Bangkok is aware of the case and is arranging legal representation for Mr. Morrish.

PATTAYA TOURIST POLICE ARREST ENGLISH TEACHER FOR ALLEGED PAEDOPHILIA

Pattaya Tourist Police arrested a middle-aged English teacher on 6th May 2007, alleged to have committed various unseemly acts of a sexual nature with three underage boys aged between 12 and 17.

The Englishman, 66 year-old, Mr. Richard Jeremy Morrish aka Mr. Teacher, maintained that he had been asked by the parents of the boys to effectively adopt them and support their education. He gave them games to play to keep them occupied, but allegedly also incited them to commit acts of an indecent nature

When the police team, led by Pol.Lt.Col. Sechart Luen-sukan, Chief Inspector of the Tourist Police, raided Mr. Morrish’s house in Soi Nongyai 8, Banglamung, acting on arrest warrants 502/2550 and 503/2550, dated 5th May 2007, they found the three boys in residence and incriminating evidence in the form of a notebook computer containing various pictures of a sexually explicit nature, including two of the boys Deng (12) and Oam (14) masturbating.

Pattaya Police are currently conducting a campaign to eradicate any crime which is likely to harm the tourist trade and the international reputation of Thailand. It was partially on this basis that a press conference was held at Tourist Police Station, Headquarters# 2 at 1 pm on Sunday afternoon given by Pol.Col. Chuchart Suwanakom when the arrest of Mr. Morrish was announced.

There were also further loose pictures of a similar nature located around the house. It is further alleged that Mr. Morrish swore the boys to silence concerning the intimate acts committed.

The case came to the attention of the police apparently when one of the boys was caught glue sniffing and was told to quit the house by Mr. Morrish.

Despite the evidence, Mr. Morrish denies all the allegations. He is currently being held in custody at Banglamung Police Station, bail having been denied him. He has been charged with committing indecent acts against minors and abandoning children under 15 years-of-age. The British Embassy has been notified and is providing legal aid for Mr. Morrish.
