Mexico has a longer border with the gulf than the US........so the Gulf of America is now named after a foreign country.

So I stand corrected, though the distinction is rather pedantic and my point is still valid. Renaming the Rio Grande as the American River wouldn't fit the pattern. But it would be funny, and probably piss off the right people.

Regarding Canadian geese, there's some memes out there threatening to call them American Geese. But I like Donald Duck better.
