My GF has developed food allergies.. One of these is wheat but it seems gluten free foods are OK for her..

Over the last few years in getting her to broaden her horizons from thai food good non thai food no good theres a few things she now really likes, one of these is sa-pa-get-tii..

Currently we are in the west, an each supermarket has a allergy food section and gluten free products are easy to obtain, we are back in Thailand in a week or so and I am wondering if theres any chance of getting it incountry, even mail order ??

Anyone seen gluten free pasta anywhere ?? Phuket especially ??

Trader Joe's in California is great for various kinds of gluten free pastas....

In BKK, they seem hard to find. But there have been other TV threads on this subject, and one of those offered a place on Suk Soi 19 called Maison du Vins.... I haven't tried it yet, so I can't confirm.

Here's a link to the other post....

Thanks to TV member Polecat, I believe I've discovered "Gluten-Free Heaven" in BKK.... In another thread, Polecat posted about a shop called Maison du Vin on Sukhumvit Soi 19 being a place that stocks rarely found gluten-free pasta in Bangkok -- something that is very hard to find. So today, I decided to swing by there to check it out...and boy... was I AMAZED to find they stock a relatively HUGE variety (for BKK) of gluten free products at very reasonable prices....

So first, as to the particulars, although there is still the Maison du Vin name outside, their business card and canopy outside now are titled "Sense of World Taste," and it nominally is a wine and cured meats shop (in addition to stocking quite a few GF foods).

Their address is 33/4 Sukhumvit Soi 19, maybe 5 blocks up from the main road on the left hand size of the street, just past the Honey Hotel and Soi 19 Beer Garden. I believe that also is the corner of Soi Prassamitr. Their business hours are Monday to Friday 9 am to 7 pm, and Saturdays 10 am to 6 pm. Their phone numbers are 02-651-2340 and 02-651-2040. Their business card also indicates delivery is possible. Today when I was there, the one shop lady inside spoke not a word of English....but I still got what I needed.

Photos of their GF merchandise to follow....

Kamut flour, though not gluten free, may be a good alternative for those allergic to regular wheat...
