June 7, 200719 yr The parents found out about the incident on May 31 and were upset with Mr Somporn's behaviour. They petitioned Samai Thanasri, the acting director of the provincial education zone 2 office, to have him transferred. Transferred? Just transferred? He should be sacked for doing such a heinous thing... Threatening one's life over a tattoo is not a funny joke! But being a high ranking Thai boss, I can see him walking out of this mess unscathed. June 8, 200719 yr Author Did you see the TV clip of him and his students.. a very Thai..smiling.. WAD I did something, wrong..
June 8, 200719 yr But the REAL question here is: Did the tattoos protect the students or not?!! This is about religion, not education!
June 8, 200719 yr There are some odd details to this story- not to say that the director's behaviour is excused by anything, but the fact that so many students have these particular tattoos- not to mention that any tattoos at all are a bit alarming at that age- hints there may be some sort of gang problem there- we may not be aware of past threats to individuals in authority in that school system by such gangs. Which doesn't excuse his actions, but at least makes them a little less incomprehensible.
