The parents found out about the incident on May 31 and were upset with Mr Somporn's behaviour. They petitioned Samai Thanasri, the acting director of the provincial education zone 2 office, to have him transferred.

Transferred?

Just transferred?

He should be sacked for doing such a heinous thing...

Threatening one's life over a tattoo is not a funny joke!

But being a high ranking Thai boss, I can see him walking out of this mess unscathed.

But the REAL question here is: Did the tattoos protect the students or not?!!

This is about religion, not education!

There are some odd details to this story- not to say that the director's behaviour is excused by anything, but the fact that so many students have these particular tattoos- not to mention that any tattoos at all are a bit alarming at that age- hints there may be some sort of gang problem there- we may not be aware of past threats to individuals in authority in that school system by such gangs. Which doesn't excuse his actions, but at least makes them a little less incomprehensible.
