Accident Student Injured After Being Run Over at Udon Thani School
UPDATE Udon Thani Pupil Run Over by Pick-Up Truck on Road to Recovery Pictures courtesy of Amarin. The condition of “Nong Tang”, the 12-year-old primary school pupil who was run over by a teacher’s husband driving a pick-up truck inside the grounds of a well-known Udon Thani school, has shown signs of improvement following surgery, doctors confirmed. The boy, with a perfect academic record and head of the school’s marching band, sustained severe injuries to his pelvis when the vehicle struck him on the concrete courtyard as he waited for his mother after school. The driver, identified as the husband of a teacher at the school, told police he had not seen the child before the accident. Doctors at Udon Thani Central Hospital said Nong Tang had undergone surgery successfully and remained in serious but stable condition. “His mental health is good, he smiles and communicates positively, but he must remain on bed rest for several weeks while the pelvis and hip bones knit back together,” a senior physician said, adding that he will not be able to walk during the recovery period. The school director, accompanied by teachers and administrators, visited the boy at his hospital bedside to offer encouragement. Meanwhile, the Udon Thani Primary Education Service Area Office 1 sent senior officials to deliver a gift basket and a financial contribution of 3,000 baht to the family as a gesture of support. Police confirmed the driver has been questioned but no charges have yet been filed pending the results of medical reports. The man has agreed to cooperate fully and provide financial assistance to the family. Nong Tang’s mother expressed deep concern about the possibility of permanent disability, but said the family was focusing on his recovery. His grandmother held a traditional Isaan bai sri su kwan ceremony by the hospital bed to bless him and boost his morale. The boy, who has consistently achieved top grades and dreams of entering a military preparatory school to become a military bandsman, will require long-term care. The school has pledged to cover all educational support necessary during his convalescence. Adapted by Asean Now from Amarin 2025-08-20 -

Cruise Boom Set to Bring 25,000 Tourists to Sihanoukville
cruisedig Cambodia’s coastal city of Sihanoukville is preparing for a surge in international visitors as 22 cruise ships are scheduled to dock at its port throughout 2026, marking a significant uptick in the country’s maritime tourism. According to data from Cruisedig.com, nearly 25,000 cruise passengers are expected to arrive next year—more than doubling the 2024 figure of 12,000 and comfortably surpassing the 15,000 projected for 2025. The influx signals growing interest in Cambodia’s coastal and river-based travel experiences, with Sihanoukville emerging as a key gateway. The first liner to arrive will be the Bermudan-flagged Oceania Sirena, docking on New Year’s Day with over 800 passengers. February will see the arrival of the Italian Costa Serena, carrying 3,617 tourists, followed by Dutch and Norwegian vessels with over 2,000 passengers each. The smallest ship, Star Seeker from the Bahamas, will bring 224 visitors. January is set to be the busiest month, with six cruise arrivals, followed by December and February. No sea cruise traffic is expected between May and September, reflecting seasonal patterns in regional itineraries. Beyond ocean liners, Cambodia’s river cruise sector is also gaining traction. Routes along the Mekong, Tonle Sap, and Sangker rivers offer travellers immersive experiences, from floating villages to lush landscapes. Virginie Kury, Managing Director of Asian Trails Cambodia, described cruise tourism as “a unique way of discovering a destination,” highlighting its appeal to both adventure seekers and comfort-focused travellers. “Cruising allows visitors to engage with Cambodia beyond the usual tourist routes,” she said, adding that the country’s growing connection with Vietnam enhances its appeal for multi-country itineraries. With high-quality vessels increasingly including Cambodian ports in their schedules, the cruise sector is poised for steady growth. As Sihanoukville welcomes more ships, Cambodia’s tourism industry may find itself riding a new wave of opportunity—one that flows not just from the sea, but along its storied rivers. -2025-08-20 -

FBI redacted Trump's name in Epstein files
Posted on August 1, 2025 -- “Well, I don’t want to talk about that,” Trump said to the reporter who asked. “You ought to be speaking about Bill Clinton, who went to the island 28 times. I never went to the island.” We asked the White House for the source of Trump’s recent claim about Clinton, but we have not received an answer. Trump may be incorrectly referring to the number of times that Clinton traveled on Epstein’s planes. In August 2019, Trump’s claim was that Clinton “was on his plane 27 times” — not that he had been to the island that often. https://www.factcheck.org/2025/08/trump-offers-no-evidence-for-claim-about-bill-clinton-and-epstein-island/ -
