Who Is Your Favorite Speaker?

Featured Replies

Watching ASTV1's live coverage of the Taksin Protests got me thinking, who is your favorite speaker so far?

To me, I like Jum Laan the best. He has a way with the people that hits the 'common man'. He dresses simply (looks like a Tuk Tuk driver) but connects the best with his presentations. Son Tee (sorry about the mispellings here) is good too and if the King were to make him the interim PM, he'd go down well with the folks.

My two satangs... :o

Hey Boon, what's your stand on Taxin ? are you pro or anti ?

I am guessing Anti but I could be wrong.

I am guessing Anti but I could be wrong.

I used to be slightly pro-Toxin up until 6 months or so ago.

After watching almost a week of the Sanaam Luang speeches, I'm pro anyone else but him... :o

So what happened 6 months ago ? you saw the lights ? found out about the corruption ?

Something like that. Since I'm not in Thailand 100% of the time yet, some of his nefarious deeds got by me.

Like what one speaker was saying a little while ago. Taksin thinks of himself as a reincarnation of PM Jon Poon Paw (sorry 'bout the spelling here) who fled to Laos & hung out there back in the late '50's - early '60's and then came back to Thailand - got re-elected and was PM for a total of 17 years.

Don't believe Taksin has that future... :D

This is Thailand.

Thaksin is probably the best elected Prime Minister in many years other than Chuan, however everyone hated Chuan when he was in office because - nice guy or not - he couldn't get anything done because he wasn't corrupt.

Thaksin is a businessman and although he skims off the top, he still leaves enough for the country to grow so that he can take more later.

Most of the other PMs didn't seem to understand this concept. :o

That's what the wife says. She couldn't give a rats ar$e, if Thaksin is skimming etc.In her mind(and a majority of the population), he actually gets things done and benifits the country better than what the other <deleted> have done in the past...

This is the first time I see you saying something logical and "intelligent" on this board. To make things worse I agree with you.

Pigs must be flying, oh wait, they are already, in Air Force One :D

One of the speakers a little earlier was one of the chief organizers of the student rebellion at Thammasat back in '73 - anyone recall his name?

Kind of a wimpy-looking guy who spoke with a high voice.

Bambi or any Thais on board?

They are conducting a mock trial of Taksin in Saanam Luang at the moment and it doesn't look good for the 'big guy'.

What I don't understand is how Taksin was able (along with his cronies) to change the Law from 25% foreign ownership to 49%? :o

So this is the big night, right ? :o

Yep...From what I can make out, they are marching from Saanam Luang to Victory Monument.

I've heard numbers of anywhere from 200 to 300k folks.

Can't believe that many though...

Been spelling his name wrong - it's Chamlong Srimuang my choice for interim PM.

For more details, go here .

I like that little guy who was fired from channel 3 for his comments on Thaksin. He's now working for ASTV and speaks his mind.

They are saying Taksin is returning To Bangkok tonight and getting back to work tomorrow.

Something too about his bright, shiney new Super Puma helicopter like H.M. the King has... :o

That poet from Phuket got, once again, great cheers and laughs from the crowd tonight after reading his latest poem dedicated ,again, to Thaksin.

Lately, every single poem of his ends with " You will be dead under my feet!" :o

Well, Sondhi gave another rousing speech tonight as well as did Chamlong.

More tidbits came out as there were three Ambassadors from Thailand in the group.

One of them was the Ambassador to Washington DC who has resigned due to Taksin's over-the-top corruption. It seems there was a Thai Shopping Mall to be constructed on 5th Ave. in New York City with the original quoted price of $45 per sq. ft but when the contract was let Taksin and his cronies were to take some $300 a sq. ft. so the US Ambassador said 'no way' and has resigned.

The list goes on including Taksin's push to get his man appointed as UN Secretary General - a no-talent bureaucrat... :o

Well, besides a pissed-off pack of businessmen from Silom up on stage tonight along with the rest of the 'Biggies' - Chamlong Srimuamg, Sondhi etc., all are giving real firey speeches. The rhetoric level seems to be intensifying...

Big crowd too.

So what's the latest? I'm back in the States at the moment and haven't been able to get wind of the latest developments. Update, Boonie??
