DCAP confident Suvarnabhumi Airport will have power

BANGKOK, Sept 7 (TNA) - Suvarnabhumi Airport, which opens September 28, will always have a sufficient supply of electricity, according to Wanchai Sinaroj, acting general manger of District Cooling System and Power Plants Co., Ltd. (DCAP).

DCAP is a joint venture between three state enterprises: PTT Plc., EGAT Plc. and the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA). DCAP was created specifically to manage the new airport’s power needs.

Suvarbhumi Airport is an energy-saving facility, according to Wanchai. Surplus heat created during electricity generation will be used to chill water and create steam used in the airport’s air conditioning system.

DCAP’s natural gas power plant has a maximum capacity of 50 megawatts.

According to Wanchai, Suvarnbabhumi Airport’s power generation is highly reliable, but in case of emergency the MEA will carry the load.
