I have another home in Asia where I usually spend 3 months anyway, so to another 3 months visiting family in the US or Europe is no big deal.

We were told that when you renewed your registration you would have to pay them, we've renewed more than once and never been asked to pay. So they sit there. I can't say I have lost any sleep over it. As for the demerit system, good luck with that.....anything that involves computers and programs is totally beyond any system that Thais can implement. I must have some demerits, but I'm seriously doubting whether even having a driver's license is worth the effort. I doubt that when mine comes due in 4 years time, I'll renew it.
