  1. Ummm...

You don't need port forwarding to download torrents.

Port forwarding is to direct specific unsolicited incoming traffic to a specific IP on your internal LAN - for example if you're running a web server you'd direct port 80 to a specific machine, and ports 25 and 110 to another machine hosting email, port 53 to your DNS server, etc...

Your router "sees" which port you're running uTorrent on, so it directs the incoming traffic on that port to your IP without you needing to set up port forwarding. Prove it by changing the port uTorrent is using. It'll still work, without you needing to do anything at the router end.

false, this is only in case upnp is activated.

    +1

  2. I have head rumours that they are getting rid of the need to have 400k in bank and only issuing visas if you can prove 40k a month?

Can you shed any light on this? I have been married for 2 years, first baby due August, I do not live in Thailand as I work overseas but my wife and child to be are staying in Thailand, I intend to move there in 4-5 years time,(I'm 45 now) is it easier to wait until I'm 50 and get a retirement visa or apply for a visa on humanitarian grounds for my Thai family?

    any info welcome

Didn't they try to do that a couple of years (5-6 years) ago, but then reversed it ?

  3. This all seems like a major headache to be honest.

We have 2 children together, so I assume this will help our 'case'

It sure will, I am just happily married and no kids and I got it also.

    Good Luck

Ps: Pattaya has the requirement for first time applicants to also have a witness present that gets interviewed by the immigration Official. For subsequent visits this isn't necessary. (I have no idea if this is also a requirement in other Immigration Offices)

  4. If you are the paranoid type you could do all your banking at the teller window and decline to have an ATM card linked to your account. Also, keep all your teller-window transaction records so if there is anything amiss, it would have to have been an inside job.

You know when you say "at the teller window"?

I wonder does it mean ONLY inside a bank, or can one of the exchange booths dotted around the place be used, with only a passbook? I am talking of booths belonging to the likes of Kasikorn, etc.

It would be handy to do it that way, instead of joining a long queue inside a bank

    Penkoprod

    Penkoprod,

I think he means a teller within the Bank, the people at the exchange booths are (in my opinion) only authorized to do (as the name already suggests) currency exchange. To be 100% sure you have to ask them if you can do withdrawals from them with only your Bank Book and your passport / id card, but I sincerely doubt it that you can, but I agree that it would be handy to use them :D

  5. Yes but you normally need about 15 days remaining on current permitted to stay - so if not enough time you can either enter again or go to a Consulate to obtain the non immigrant O visa using marriage certificate/spouse ID card and home register copies.

Will I definitely need to show the 400k in the bank?

Or 40k of income a Month (Statement issued by your Embassy)

    Edit: //

It has to be 400,000 Baht in the bank OR 40,000 Baht a month.

    (6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

    (Thanks Lite Beer)

  6. In my condo (Central Pattaya) no problem, we only had a minor electricity cut yesterday afternoon, but it only lasted for a couple of minutes.

I'd already expected problems with Water during Songkran, I think the PWA is running during Songkran at full capacity just to keep every one supplied with water, and outages for a couple of hours aren't that bad, if it there where outages for days at a time I would worry.

Most houses have water tanks which gives them a couple of days of supplies, else get numbers from Water Trucks they run through whole of the City (200 - 300 THB for about 1600 Liters of Water)

  7. .

Let's see if we can make her crash her motorbike . . .

    post-53404-0-90811200-1334294521_thumb.j

    .

And these ones aren't even that powerful, what would have happened if she got hit with water coming from one of those PVC pipe canon things. Major Disaster.

This is why the morons aim for the eyes, hoping to cause a crash. I have seen them in Soi Buakhow, whooping and hollering, giving each other high fives when this happens. The policeman on the newsclippings thread had the right idea!

    What !!!!!!!!!!!

People are actually cheering and clapping when they caused a crash ???? There are no descent words that can describe this kind of behavior.

As one poster described it : The respect is gone. or mentioning a song by The Black Eyed Peas, "Where is the Love ??"

  8. The government charge is somewhat between THB 7 and THB 9 per unit.

The government doesn't charge between 7 and 9 Baht unit for water. Or are you confused between water and Electric even then it's way too much !!

Direct Info from the PWA Website (Updated April 2555)

http://pwa.co.th/ser...ariff_rate.html (Just look under Pattaya and under Housing) if you can't read Thai here the Google site

    http://translate.goo...te.html&act=url

    Units 0 - 10 11.52 THB Per Unit

    Units 11- 20 13.99 THB Per Unit

Units 21-30 16.49 THB Per Unit

Units 31-50 18.56 THB Per Unit

Units 51-80 19.42 THB Per Unit

Units 81-100 19.82 THB Per Unit

    Edit : //

Note to the OP, if you are paying around 1500 THB, then (using the above pricing scale) you must have used around 80 Units (where 1 Unit is 1000 Liters) or 80.000 Liters.

What price per unit are you paying ? Even at 30 THB a Unit, you would have used 50 Units (1500 / 30) that's still 50.000 Liters of water. As other members already mentioned they are ripping you off, or you must have a major water leak, or a swimming pool in your Condo ;)

  9. No problems, but have you read my post? , I've omitted the remarks I made about chipping and ipod

I have a Pajero Sport and I like it, in my opinion it has sufficient power 178 HP.

    <omitted remark regarding Chipping>

    <omitted remark regarding iPod>

I love that car, it drives really nice and is also economical in Fuel (When i drive to Buriram I easily get 11-12 km a liter) even when flooring it on the Chokchai to Nang Rong stretch

On another note, we have a Honda Jazz and a PJS (PJS stands for Pajero Sport), intentionally we bought the Jazz for the wife to use driving around town etc, and the PJS for traveling distances. but nowadays the Jazz stays home maybe 90% of the time collecting dust, as the wife always takes the PJS. She loves that car also, and it suits me as I now have a chauffeur ;)

  10. Look at my original post. Problem solved for pennies and is set up in 2 minutes. rolleyes.gif

    PS. No batteries, mains fed.

    Transam Question.

With this equipment will you be able to independently change channels / watch different programs on the different TV sets ?

Or do you have to watch the same program on the connected TV sets ?

    I guess it's the latter ?

There many posts here on Chipping a PJS, just use the Forum Search Engine.

About connecting the iPod, I just went to a shop which is specialized in car stereos and they installed it for me in less then 5 Minutes. (I went to Boy Air & Sound in Pattaya)

  12. Hi Nietzche,

    maybe this helps ?

Or from the same guy, but can't find the vid

Tonight I watched Billy remove nuisance bats. He used a hose (or water spraying device) that had a pressure nozzle on it. I saw the water tip and stream. He soaked them with soapy water and said it'll will not only make them leave, but it will eliminate their bat bugs. So....he sprayed the bats, in the daylight, (as bats are NOCTURNAL) and they left.

After they left, he closed all the entries off, so they couldn't return

  13. OK, let me be the first to pass on the first water war report on the 2012 Songrkan Terror Season of Pain. EARLY action, folks. You heard it here first.

Soi 7 from Second Rd. to Beach Rd.

It starts in the bar sois. Surely Beach Road, 2nd, and more SOON to follow.

Why doesn't this surprise me one bit. Thanks for reporting JT
