Hi, soon I will be making my regular trip to thailand, Suvarnabhumi airport
i will travel from heathrow terminal 3, with thai ir, and this time i will be going business class. ( yes i know thai air use older planes, but i like them all the same .
I am wondering where the business class area lounge is at term 3 please. saves me looking around, as i will be pushed for time. i guess it is after the duty free area, towards the boarding gates. any ideas pls.
also on my return to the UK from Suvarnabhumi airport, can anyone tell me where the business class lounge area is at swampy. as i go through passport control, is it a left or right pls. is it possible to get fast tracked through passport control at heathrow coming in, or swampy going out, by asking at check in. maybe the fast track is asking for too much , i only ever seem to spend maximum 10 minutes in those queues, so no worries if there are not.
thanks
i think next time i will try qatar air - i prefer direct flights

thanks some good suggestions there, including the mountains, and Laem Din market
edit; how long does it take to ride a moped around the island? with a stop off for lunch maybe. i am not sure how big the island is

so your coming on holiday with your GF to a tropical Island and you want a good shopping mall
sounds like tesco lotus is the place for you
I overheard a couple asking a taxi driver outside of Tesco the other day where the shopping mall was.
I mean Paris is good...London....New York....Bangkok is fairly good even. Maybe they should have gone to the Maldives.
OP check out the restaurant thread pinned at the top of the forum. Choeng Mon Chaweng Noi Nikki Beach.......Green Mango.....Fishermans Village worth a look.....Maenam and on and on.....
but then you can also ask the taxi driver where the shopping mall is in Hua Hin, and he will tell you Market Village. an amazing 3 story HUGE shopping mall, with some fantastic shopping.

thanks for replies, so chaweng road seems to be the main place then to go. oh, and my GF is thai, and we are not going to KS for the sun bathing. every time i visit Thailand, I take my GF somewhere new. ( for her and for me ). this time it happens to be KS. If we like the place we go back. not everyone visits ''beautiful tropical islands'' to do the same thing as you Starcandle. i do my thing and you do your thing.

hi, i will be in KS on the 9th Oct, in Chaweng Road - Centara Grand Beach Resort. i will be there with my Thai GF for 5 nights. we will hire a bike. we dont like to swim or do anything too adventurous, but we like temples, or eating at very nice restaurants, or nice bars, or shopping. we will visit the chaweng road of course, for the first time, but can anyone recommend some good shopping malls, or some great touristy places to go, not too far from the hotel.
thank you

hi, i will be back in HH, on the 19th October, for a few nights. I will be staying with my thai girlfriend at the Hilton, I have been before, and we visited the wonderful shopping mall, the area in front of the Hilton, and that is about it. ( in Novemeber I will be visiting Cha Am )
So where else shall we try, that is not too far away. Please bear in mind we will probably hire a tuk tuk only, as my GF will be recovering from an operation, so no moped.
is the night market worth a visit? where is a great place to eat lunch and dinner? where is a good condo development to visit to look at the properties for sale? or rather where is a good estate agent, we can ask?
any tips would be welcome

thanks for both replies

ok, have been told, that if we do have a baby in the UK, then the baby will be treated as a british citizen, so will have free care, and the hospital will have a duty of care to treat my wife if she had her baby in the UK.
-
How long can you not claim public funds for, once your thai wife is over here in the UK? is it until she gets her UK passport?
If she brings her children over here on a settlement visa, and they need medical care, or my wife has a baby, and needs medical care, and check ups after the pregnancy, i will be responsible for meeting those costs? and this lasts for about 1-2 years? that could be quite expensive
if we are planning on having a baby, maybe it would be better to have the baby in thailand, and then come to the uk. but then i still would be liable for any medical costs once i am in the UK - like baby check ups, baby vaccinations. but that would be a lot cheaper than having the baby in the uk

as a rule of thumb, do condos generally not allow dogs?

Sadly my girlfriend has never heard of Adolf Hitler, or WWII, and she teaches in a kindergarten. I was quite shocked when i asked her who he was, and she just looked at me with a blank face.

ok good, i thought they would keep all papers. i am just not sure how the procedure works

Hi. I have bought myself 2 x A4 folders ( 1 for original documents and 1 for copy ).
I have also bought dividers to separate the sections, ( these are numbered - so it is very easy to find what you need - with an index in the front ).
I will put my MSN chat logs into a separate large A4 plastic folder ( original and copy ), and attach to the other folder by an elastic band. Everything will be clearly marked, in case it gets detached.
So how do i present these to the visa office? Is it ok to put into a plastic bag, or should i put into A4 box files, or doesnt the ECO really care, as long as he can find what he needs?
and does the visa office post everything back to your girlfriend? or can you arrange to collect it. can the thai postal system / or courier system be trusted. there is a lot of private financial information there.
thanks

thanks for replies, had a look at all the hotels suggested, and went for the Grand Pacific Sovereign. I gather it is a bit out the way, but we will be renting a motorbike. it looks nice

hi all, i will be visiting hua hin again next month for a few days, staying at the hilton. i loved my last trip there, so am looking forward to going back.
before i return home to the UK in november, i will spend a few nights in Cha Am,
is Cham Am town on the beach / coast like hua hin? or is it a bit further inland
i am looking for a hilton style hotel, 5 star, on the beach, which can be within walking distance of the restaurants in Cha am. i can see many hotels from googling, but i am looking for a personal recomendation from somone who lives there, or knows the area. i am looking for somwhere that is central to everything, and a very good quality hotel
thank you

I think there is a bit of confusion with the terminology. A marriage visa is definitely not the same as a settlement visa. There is a marriage visa, which is basically a visit visa ( maximum six months ), meaning you are expected to leave the UK after your marriage/visit. It cannot be extended in the UK. Then there is a fiance(e) visa, which is basically what Sumrit has described above. With this visa you are expected to marry in the UK within six months, but you can then apply for leave to remain as a spouse. Then there is the settlement visa, where you will normally be married before you apply for the visa, or have lived together for at least two years.
For the children, it looks like you are talking about visit visas ? If so, then they will need to fulfill the visit visa requirements, including showing that they have an incentive to return to Thailand after any visit.
If we can assist in any way, then please contact us through our website.
thanks for the replies, i think settlement will be the way forward.

hi,
my GF and I hope to start a family from April next year. April/May will be the only time i can see her, the next time being in july. we also hope to apply for a settlement visa at the end of july 2011 when we marry at an ampur office. this could mean that her visa was accepted, possibly around the end of october, at which time she will be 7 months pregnant, so she wont be able to fly.
from what i can read on the ukvisas.gov websight a marriage visa is form vaf4, which is the same as a settlement visa. am i right in saying that a marriage visa to UK is the same as a settlement visa.
i always thought they were different, a marriage visa i thought was easier to get. if they are the same, then maybe we will marry at the end of April and apply then. but if they are different, can someone please provide me with a link to the marriage visa.
my girlfriend has 2 children who i would like to bring over to the uk for christmas if possible
thanks for any help

this article is about to appear on sky news ( UK )

cannot offer any practical advice, but would like to wish you good luck, and I hope you can get your family to the UK very soon
-
thanks for replies,
Good, they wont need to do the language test , but they will still need to study english hard, before they go to school here. i think both the children do at least 50 minutes of english a day at school, which is good. I just need to find my GF an english language teacher i think. though she is reluctant - she wants me to teach her
-
would the test only apply to immigrants over 18 years old? my thai girlfriend, has two children, 8 and 5, who she will bring to the UK with her.
i would guess they would not have to take the test as they are too young, am i right?
