In order for them to be producing milk for humans the cows on most farms are forced to be  artificially inseminated, then when they give birth the calf is immediately taken away from them (causing them great distress).

After that they are milked every day for many more months past their natural time they would provide milk naturally for their calf.  This provides a massive strain of the health of the cow, so it is fed antibiotics constantly in its feed to keep it dying from infections.

Most are also kept in dark dirty stalls where they have no space to even walk about, leading to lameness.  Many never even get to eat grass, instead fed an corn or vegetable by products not fit for human consumption.

Next time you are out in the countryside here go and take a look at the conditions dairy cows are kept in.  You will be disgusted.

And it's hardly any better in the West with factory farming.

Not all farms are factory farms & not all factory farms are the same....... just as not all vegans are militant imbeciles with a penchant for misplaced piousness, however much they try to prove me wrong

I am not sure how that reduced range works - my MG HS PHEV also went from 67 km range to 66 km after about one year, bu now after over 18 months its back up at 67...........go figure.

There is head-room on the battery, even when new I was never able to put in more than 13.5 kWh, so this could all just be a function of their BMS.

    Or black magic...........

If you hear any news of the Smart #1 coming to Thailand please post it here.

I agree the Neta V would not be my next car but it is cheap and good value. We needs EVs for every pocket.

The Neta S does look good but no current plans to bring it to Thailand

I do like the looks of this one

I got a can of high temp aluminium paint from Thaiwatsadu when I changed the element on my oven, worked ok. Found it in the motor section.

I used to manufacture industrial ovens and we sprayed the inside with aluminium paint so would advise looking for an aluminium based product.

    thanks for that

I personally have no desire to be on the road more than, 300 kms / 4 hrs a day, so topping up isn't much of a inconvenience vs baht saved.  If I am, then that 30-60 minute stop will be very welcomed.

The ICE will be gone after the EV arrives, as having no real practical use for it afterwards.

I have no desire, but I have the need quite often - further more getting my wife to even put fuel in the car is hard enough let alone consider being organised enough to charge ????

    Charging Speed:

This will only increase over time - I think for most an EV is a more than acceptable second car and very probably a useful daily. That said the convenience of gasoline/diesel refueling locations & times is a huge point of difference.

Zero skills doesn't stop you looking on Google.

There are heat resistant spray paints available maybe try Lazada,  Shoppee or have a look in homemart, global Hse and places like that.

    Maybe a car accessories shop.

Hence my request for specific brands - that are available here in LOS

  8. Ok I've put this here as I am sure some of the members have painted engines etc.... but I want recommendations for high temp easy to apply (spray) paint - although is for a BBQ, the temp ranges are very similar. In particular I would like the easiest to apply/finish as I have ZERO skills in this department. If anyone has advise as to how to apply and get no runs, happy to take it also.

Definitely, as I've spooked more than a few on my e-scooter.  Am guilty of using sound when on my ebike, and caught myself a few times, not turning my head completely before changing road position ... so I can see more peds getting whacked crossing the street when EVs are popular.

Some places have 'mandatory sound producing laws' for EVs ... ????

This does seem quite prudent - that said with most modern cars & the amount of beeps & bongs that go off in the cabin we should get a pedestrian warning system coming soon (unless we already have)

An MG ZS long range has a range of 365 km. An MG fast DC charger would charge at 94 kW DC would add 410km/ hour so you would only need to stop once for a few minutes.

A granny charger that you plug into a wall outlet gives about 3kW/ hour

    so again totally possible

I think what is missing is the convenience factor - for me personally I would need (ok technically want) one regular dinosaur bone fueled car and one EV

"...the mailing/Thai Customs process for buying online abroad and then having small packages ($30 or under valuation) mail forwarded here by regular mail?"

$30 USD or under has to be the total on the receipt inside the package to avoid Thai Customs charges?

What is the official figure - 1,000 THB?

    100 USD  I believe

Burning more fat, is useful. However they are talking about the fat burning rate.

My point is that if you have 500 cal deficit, then it does not matter how fast you burn it (unless  of course you cant burn those 500 cals of fat at the normal rate). However the studies don't see the lower rate as a problem because its still fast enough to burn off 500 cals a day.

Maybe if the rate was not fast enough to burn 500 cals on a day then it would help, but that is not the case.

Its just one of those clickbait things that have no real value unless your on a deficit and that deficit is huge and your deficient and your body just cant burn fat fast enough. Its just not a situation that really happens.

exactly - focussing on the "it can do" but not the reality of the situation.

The currently only available model Neta V looks quite small and a bit akward. Can just be from the pictures, I need to see in real.

Neta S is awesome, that's the kind of EVs I would like to see in Thailand

The youtube review I saw was not so amazing, to be honest it looked very cheap in terms of fit & finish

    Yes, for frying.

Potatoes come in two types; waxy and floury.

Waxy makes good chips, floury makes good mash.

    The potatoes here are floury.

My mum was literally born in a chippy and I have been a chef for over 25 yrs. MOST of the domestically produced spuds are from China & are grown to be big, crunchy & white - they have overly excessive water content, which as we know is the enemy of crispy. They are, on the whole, also terrible for mash.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Oh well no chance of an old style take away chippie/chipper.  Last time was about 20 years ago a younger English man opened a place in Patong about opposite the big massage brothel place on Rat u Tit. He lasted about 3 years and then moved to Pattaya

Due to the quality of spuds here mate - they are rubbish

I posted this pic earlier in the discussion.

The problem worldwide currently is that all EVs are delayed due to multiple problems: rampant demand for EVs due to rising cost of fossil fuel; chip shortages; battery supply cannot meet demand; Shanghai Covid lockdown; Ukraine wiring harness factories have been shuttered by the Russian invasion, forcing them to curtail production.  MG has told me that the made in Thailand HS PHEV is the only car they have stock of, all others are delayed 6 months plus

thank you - sorry I didnt see this earlier - certainly makes the MG EP wagon look like a class leader in terms of bang for buck
