  1. T2 was very crowded yesterday (Monday). Queue for Thai Lion flights were just under 2 hours. It would have been better to arrive late and wait for the staff to hold up the flight destination that was next to depart, which allowed special queue jumping check-in. After 1 1/2 hours, I was still about 15 minutes from the front when they called my flight and I quickly scooted over to the special lanes.

Thai Lion are a bit of a joke as well. Besides being able to reserve a seat, on line check-in is useless. On every other airline that I have used, you check in on line, go to the airport and find the special queue, give them your bag, and you are off. No can do at Thai Lion. Still need to wait in the line with the other thousand people.

T2 Thai Lion has about 12 check -in desks. They had more over at T1. Maybe still getting things sorted at the new terminal.

Check in baggage procedure was strange. After check-in, you go to another area and watch a video monitor of your bag going down the belt. If they didn't like something, it was pushed to the side and they called out to the owner of the bag. If your bag went through without being flagged, you were OK and went to security. Not clear, so I am sure some passengers go straight from check-in to security without checking the monitor. Surprise when you get to your destination and your bag doesn't come out.

  2. They should all be registered and pay the same fees as the rest per night to upkeep the island infrastructure (555). H&S issues, insurance for guests as well as paying their company income tax to support the local governments budget (555). These unregistered guesthouses / hotels / villa's should never have been allowed to mushroom to this level. I recall many years ago that the per night fee per guest that many hotels charged was not strictly enforced. So some hotels could decide by themselves not to pay. What a crazy island we live on.

  3. RO membrane only allows small molecules to pass. Hydrogen and oxygen are some of the smallest, even if combined. Heavy metals, lead, tin, etc... won't get passed. Only a few thousand baht. Worth the investment.

  4. Russian honorary consul on Phuket confirmed receiving the FSB notification and has passed onto Gov and police, who confirm they are tightening security. So the report is confirmed, I assume the Thai spokesman means that they are trying to "verify" that the 10 people are in Thailand. Different kettle of fish.

Fairly detailed report, with numbers and locations, so seems credible. Actual report may have more detail, such as names and travel details that can be tracked.

  5. 30m tall durian tree came down recently. Termites and that big storm a couple months ago did the trick. Or bor tour came over on my neighbors request since his drive was partially blocked. They did get his drive clear, but I was hoping they would cut it up into smaller pieces.

I was wondering if anyone knew of how to get rid of this wood. Any charcoal factories in Phuket?
