FYI, Myanmar has 200 registered CE's. Thailand is 4th lowest behind Cambodia, Laos, and Brunei. I guess you need to really take the test and connections don't matter.

The ASEAN chartered engineer association has 2000 members. 123 in Thailand. If one of those guys/gals signed off, OK. Who is signing off for the JC fix? A Chartered Engineer?

Update
Went down to muni / land office in Patong. Showed them the letter, land paper, GF signed ID, etc... The main gist was if I was paying rent. I told them no and got the GF on the phone to confirm.
They asked me to go down to the PEA and get a 2 year statement, which I did. Not sure what this proves, since account is in the original builders company name (never thought to change over). Monthly GIRO is in my name, which satisfied the PEA gal as I didn't bring a copy of an old power bill.
After everything resubmitted, I had to write on another doc that I lived at my address, that I didn't pay rent, and finally that the house was owned by my GF. They were quite emphatic on this last point.
I asked how much was owed and was told zero baht. I asked if this would be an annual event and was told no. Hopefully this is the case.
So seems like they are trying to collect tax from people renting out their properties.

Anything that has the whiff of farang is pricey at Makro.

PB was OK yesterday. KAT.cr down.

Links Prince of Songkla Uni and Honda garage. Much easier now that you can turn right onto CF west.

I heard yesterday that the SCB called in their engineer and he advised all the banks in the basement to close down. I also understand the Phuket Provincial engineer has refused to sign off on the remedial work. All hearsay of course but sounds believable.
Went to Krungsri last week and they were closed. Sign on window said all accounts transferred to Rat u Thit branch.

Was trying to think back to when it first opened. Was the metal canopy installed or was it added later?
-
That exterior metal stabiliser bar doesn't seem to have worked!

Just for clarity - does this involve a 30 year lease in your name. The land owner (I guess your g/f) would be liable for annual tax based on land value/ by 30 years.
I got caught with this tax when I used to have a 30 year lease in Patong. Sure it's the land owner who is liable but in my contract the leasee had to pay the tax. I got caught for about 6 years back tax.
Thx but no. Got a doc that says I own the house.

I would think Kathu Land Office. Might even be Patong Municipalty office past the Patong fire station. Should be a very small percentage of the assessed land value.
My wife owns land in Patong and our company owns land in Patongfor over 17 years - never had a land tax demand, ever ...
Same letter rec'd about 6 months ago but GFs mom binned it. Maybe trying to screw owners outside Phuket as a starting point.
I read 0.25% a while back.

GF rec'd a letter at her isaan address saying that I owe land tax. Over 10 yrs. and this is the first time they have assessed. They want me to bring the land paper down with a signed copy of her ID card.
I asked where I should go and she didn't know. She has been calling the office number but no answer. Typical sh?t service.
Anybody know where I should go? House is in Patong, so hope it's Kathu land office. I did the transfer there.
What's the current % on assessed value? Is that land only or does that include house too?

That is a bunch of BS and you know it. I use Grab taxi for my gf all the time.GrabTaxi
2km they estimate THB 135 to 165 (meter) plus 50 booking fee
Good if you can get it in your area.
Availability of meter option good now in Patong. Not good in high season.
Same journey with GrabCar will set you back THB 310 net, which is a bit of a ripoff.
She goes from sukhumvit 11 to Ladkrabang (24kms) and it costs about 250 baht all in.
Unless you are just talking about grab taxi in Phuket then your numbers are way off.
Phuket rates are higher. I'm sure some grease is being applied to placate the powers that be. Enter phuket pick up / drop off into your app and see. Could have saved me 5 minutes.

Did it back home 20 years ago. Had a summer heatwave and something leached out. First rainstorm it was like a skating rink. They replaced it the next week.

2015 = 120 million Chinese total outbound tourists
2020. = 200 M
Thailand nr. 5 destination.
Do the math.
What are the top 4 destinations so I can make sure to avoid?
S.Korea
Taiwan
Japan
Hong Kong
Thailand
Unfortunately, Thailand forecast to move to 3rd so it will only get worse.

This is not a Seafood restaurant, per se. Branch no. 2 on the hill above northern Patong was closed for most of May, so no shuttle bus from the RUT road branch. Could be why it was packed.

Not the case this time lik. That happens here too.
Decided to call PEA service center at 1129. Explained problem and they said they would call back. Sure. But half an hour later they did and mentioned that they were aware of the problem, fixed it, and service team was on the way back to the Patong office.
Anything else we can do for you sir? Yes, as I still have half voltage. Oh, I will ask them to go check again.
Twenty minutes later the power goes off for about an hour. Just came back on at full voltage. PEA guy calls to check up. My hats off to them. Service sells.
-
Down to 115 volts for about 1 hour. Neighbor at 70. Soi off Phrabaramee (north Patong). Anybody else? Happened yesterday too, but not at my neighbors house.

OTOP products? T shirts, flip flops, sunniest. All made in China. OTOP markets are a joke.
