Went to Don's BBQ in Patong for the weekend 249 baht special. Lot's of choices on the meat front. Had pork chops and sausages. Didn't try the ribs or beef kabob since I was full. Salad fixings and other bits and pieces as well. I'll go back.

Have a large rock in my garden. Like an iceberg, majority is underground. Less than a square meter is visible and at max, 6 inches high. I want to have it chipped away so that the whole garden is level.
Any recommendations on a company that can sort this out?
I am in Patong.

This might seem a bit dumb but how do you know which terminal to use, I have booked to go to KL and it doesn't say which terminal to use ?
Also, no comments yet on check-in location. Airport website shows departures out of terminal 1. Also showing arrivals from terminal 1.

Malarkey. Adding the new terminal does not increase the noise level.
To put it another way, new highway too airport budget is 5 billion.

Benign sounding, but won't be happy campers in bangers. Don't air your friends dirty laundry in public.
A bit passive aggressive. Saying that it's laudable that some efforts are being made, but if you want to really make some progress get the Feds and Homeland involved. Let the Thai's handle themselves.

I can't understand how the new terminal is going to double pax numbers from 6.5 million to 12.5 million. After all, the airport still only has one runway and only so many flights can land and take off at any given time.
The only way around that problem at the moment would be to extend night time arrivals and departures but those would be limited to domestic flights I would have thought.
Many flights from the land of Chins arrive past midnight and depart 3 to 4 in the morning. This helps to spread the load. This AM as an example, 6 to 9 am, 11 departures / 8 arrivals. 19 over 3 hrs isn't that much. Every 10 minutes. Changes throughout the day / years obviously.
The new terminal and renovated old terminals brings the design capacity to 12.5 million. We are at that number now, so old terminals were at 2x design capacity.

Was taking off last week going towards the ocean (west). So we get to the end of the taxiway, hang a right onto the runway, go down a couple hundred meters and make a U-turn before taking off. I've seen at Ubon and Utapao, but never noticed at Hkt.
How difficult to extend to end of the runway? More efficient use of main runway and you also wouldn't have the pilot smoking the brakes on landing when the wind shifts and the plane comes in from the west. Almost got whiplash a few times.
Just saying.

Which shark complex? Are you talking about the double decker beer bar complex , which was supposed to have sharks underneath the glass floors, on the left as you walk from Rat-U-Thit to the Expat Hotel? If so I know the full story and its failure to be completed was due to a combination of over-ambition, lack of experience, money and bad planning.
That's the one.

Went down to Expat Bar for the first time in about 10 years the other day. Happy hour was pretty good. Surprised to see that Valhalla hasn't been taken down. Also, why was that Shark complex over the road never completed? Money I guess. The lower level bars look nearly done..

Don't forget the renovation of the existing terminals when the new one is up and running.
From Wikipedia
Current design capacity (T1/T2): 6.5 million (2015 - 12.9 million passengers)
Future capacity: 12.5 million
New terminal 3. capacity works out at 6 million.
So for however long I takes to renovate, capacity will be lower than today.

Seem to recall it was around the new pizzeria hut / old lek murphys. Would drive by in the AM and see guys shoveling crushed ice into a large box truck. Wondered where the ice came from as these buildings are your standard shop houses which didn't seem conducive to large scale ice production.

Give it ten years and it will be closed and covered in cobwebs. The Chinese are a fickle mob.
The Chinese Tourism Minister just commented that overseas travel is expected to plateau this year. With Thailand a top destination, TAT shouldn't be expecting big increases in arrivals from China. But you know their forecast for next year will still show hefty increases. TIT.

Friend came in last week. HKT to Marriott Mai Khao was THB 800. Just off a long flight with family, so didn't kick up a fuss. He's been in the Vacation Club for about 15 years and this is the most he has paid.

I think the way it's done is to build the road yourself and eventually give it to the government. You now have valuable plots to sell/lease as well as power, water, garbage, sewerage, etc... Very smart.
Now the parking fee for a thousand bikes every day on a "public" road is another story. Where does the money go? Follow the money. I know this is foolish to even mention, but a "business" grossing 7 million baht per year needs to be registered for VAT. ?

Isaan economy is in the doldrums. Still a few months away from the rice harvest.

The route following the high voltage lines seemed like a good idea when it was proposed many years ago. Thalang technical college to the bypass road near the Outlet Mall. Needs to be an expressway with on/off ramps, no lights, and no shops to slow things down. Pipe dream.

Get her W-2's and see what she made back then. You would have thought that the coppers would have done this when her ex-employer was investigated.

AMLO should vet the bidders to see where the money comes from. Surely in their purview. BTW, this is the quickest auction I have seen. Usually takes years through normal courts.
